I'm just testing out my Excel spreadsheet to see how well it works.

I know hugetennisfan (a member here) has a rankings webpage at:

http://tennis20021.tripod.com/index.html

Bookmark it. It will be useful when you can't find up-to-date rankings elsewhere.

Is there any way Justine can take that number 3 ranking?

Darkheart
Nov 5th, 2002, 01:18 AM
Yes, Justine would have to win the title and Jen would have to lose in the 1st round.

Let's hope justine will be #3 next year.(at least):bounce: :bounce: ;) :D
if Jennifer lost in the first round, I wouldn't be surprised. But she doesn't have many points to defend. She usually did poor by the end of the year.:o

The same can be said about Monica. She was like 10 pts from the no.3 spot before her injury and then she went down all the way to no.7 because she couldn't play. But I'm glad that she's still in this tournament and hopefully she will beat Venus and go back up the rankings like were she should be without injuries!

Any chance of Kim getting to #4?

Nov 9th, 2002, 04:04 AM
Justine is out now, so Kim may be able to get to #4. Unfortunately, Kim has to play Venus in the SF...but she won earlier this year, so GO KIM :bounce:

Kim finishing above Amelie is a joke.

Darkheart
Nov 9th, 2002, 03:29 PM
Yes, if Kim beats Venus then Kim is #4.

Nimi

Scott, its NOT a joke, when they are both on, Kim is the better player. She was injured bad from Hamburg untill the summer season & thats why the bad results, but look at her results before Hamburg & after Wimbledon!

Can someone explain to me how the 18th tournament works? What exactly is being subtracted and why?

Darkheart
Nov 9th, 2002, 06:38 PM
If your "Next Off" is within your 17 best tourneys then you subtract your "Next Off" and add either your "18th Tourney" or whatever you earn this week (whichever is greater).

If your "Next Off" is not within your 17 best tourneys then nothing is subtracted, and if you earn more this week than your 17th best then you subtract your 17th best and add this weeks points, otherwise you add nothing.

Now that's all good if you have played more than 17 tourneys within the last year.

If you have played 17 or less tourneys then you subtract your "Next Off" and add whatever you earn this week.

I'm sure I left off something, but one thing is for sure, you only count your 17 best results.

Niminator:

Clijsters was injured from the AO on. She had to skip Paris and Antwerp because of it, and to top it off, when she got to Indian Wells, she had a nasty ear infection that screwed up her balance.

Woohoo Kimmie's at 4!!!!!

Her highest end of year rank, meaning she has improved her rank at the end of each year for her whole career. I want to see an improvement in 2003 too;)

Come on Kim with basically nothing to defend at Wimby and the French Open you can climb to 3!!!!!

Kim gets quality points for a Venus default?

Yes, and why shouldn't she? She was up 5-0 and it's not like it was her fault that Venus got injured

It's a retirement, not a walkover.

Walkovers don't give quality points, retirements do.
