Great job Petra.

I wasn't really impressed with the play I saw but a 25/11 ratio not too shabby :oh:

Still there is plenty space to get better during the tournament as Glatch obviously made it very easy.

Alexa was a bundle of nerves out there, but it was great to see her play on a showcourt. She's in the Top 100 now so hopefully she'll be able to elevate her game to compete with better players.

Credit to Petra, who obviously knew what to do after their last encounter and played a nearly errorless game.

Unexpectedly easy. I keep forgetting that Glatch's game isn't just wonky but also ineffective most of the time. Built like a basher yet plays like Niculescu - she dug herself kms behind the baseline and sliced from both sides most of the time; a slice that wasn't even very biting, deep or accurate. ROS was as woeful as might be expected considering how flawed her groundstrokes are, footwork often nonexistent.

Still, Kvitty started poorly, and it was bad match play from Glatch that cost her the first set. KvittyGrasscourtGOAT giftwrapped her a break that allowed her to get back on serve, but she hit an easy putaway straight back at Kvitty when she could have taken that service game at 2-2 to deuce, then got herself broken from *40-15 up by failing to keep the ball away from Kvitty's BH.

Second set saw only patches, Kvitty's BH ROS devastating (just whaling on the ball on nearly all returns, with a measure of success), her serve not as much (those flat rocket serves weren't going in), but she did close it out with an ace on first MP.

Glatch was lucky to get past Galina in qualies. Any Q drawing a seed is an unlucky draw.
This doesnt say much either way about Kvitova

OK, but let me remind you that Petra lost to Glatch 2:6, 1:6 two years ago in the Fed Cup draw against the USA. :)

Petra is going to run through this quarter like a hot knife through butter.

I don't think she'll drop a set until the quarters. She is just too good on grass.

Like I said though, you could tell she was ready to the slicey game Alexa threw at her this time. Alexa was far from her best--I think her nerves and her marathon qualifier took a toll--but Kvitova was really well-prepared and not going to let a repeat of that match happen.

I think Glatch should have tried some new tactics in the 2nd set, but mostly I still just glad to see her continue her comeback and have a shot at some more opportunities to play quality matches.

Big Al has a great serve!
But after that she has a very very inconsistent game. Very weird too when she puts in her slices.
But good for her to make the main draw!
Hard to believe she beat Kvitova more convincingly last time than in this match.
