We knew it was coming, but after her 6-1, 6-1 loss to Niculescu today, she's hanging up her racquet for good.
:renaGoat:

WIMBLEDON, England -- Austrian tennis player Sybille Bammer has retired from the sport after losing to Monica Niculescu of Romania 6-1, 6-1 Monday in the first round at Wimbledon.

The 31-year-old Bammer won two singles titles in her career and reached the quarterfinals at the 2008 U.S. Open for her best Grand Slam result.

At Wimbledon, her best result was reaching the third round in 2006.

Bammer's coach, Juergen Waber, says "Sybille Bammer played today her last match at an international tournament and she retired from professional tennis after a successful career."

Bammer has a 9-year-old daughter.

Aww, good luck Sybille. She has alot to be proud of. No doubt one of the hardest workers on tour ever, to completely transform a career post-childbirth and have her best years towards the end of her career in her late-20's. Others could learn alot from her.

Bye Bam Bam

Have a perfect post-tennis life with your cute daughter

Other Austrian tennis players could learn a lot from her determination, her fighting spirit and her will to work hard. She had limitations game-wise but made the best out of it just because of hard work and fighting spirit :inlove:

Poor Sybille :( It's probably for the better that she retired but I will surely miss her. My father and I were always fans of hers. We even met her at Cincy last year, as well as her hubby and daughter, and they were the sweetest people :D Best of luck to you in everything, Sybille!
