View Full Version : Predictions for earliest seeded casualties?

Seeds I think are endangered:

Schiavone (facing Dokic)
Cibulkova (facing Lucic)
Makarova (facing McHale)
Kanepi (facing Errani)
Li (facing Kudryavtseva)
Hantuchova (facing Diatchenko) - Since she's injured. :tears:

Both French Open finalists could lose R1 again. :tears:

Kanepi will lose in R1. Schiavone may stick for a few rounds but won't be a damage.

Hantuchova will probably tank or retire from one of the early matches: R2 max. for her.

Li can at least make R4.

The only seed in danger is Cibulkova. Yes, she is that useless at slams.

VIP losing to Oudone will be all kinds of fail.

Schivaone and Cibulkova are in danger.

I'd quite like Dokic and Lucic to win those and go deep here

For the first time I didn“t choose 50% of seeds:p

Lucic def. Cibulkova
Brianti def. Kirilenko
Dokic def. Schiavone

Wertheim-like fail pick for biggest surprise: Martinez Sanchez def. Jankovic

Why would she tank a Grand Slam?
This is Wimbledon, not Eastbourne. Plus her last name isn't Azarenka ;)

i usually go for Kirilenko as, most years she never tries on grass

although this year surely even she can win, half hearted

for some reason i only see Safarova losing to Hradecka and Pironkova to Giorgi

I said it before, I say again:

Petra is going down faster than a $30 crack whore. You heard it here second. (since I said it before).

Big Al Glatch will slice her to pieces.

I think Safarova will fall to Hradecka. She's got a tough play at grass. Also Lucic has best oppurtinities to win against Cibulkova. Actually, I would also say that Pennetta is going to lose, as well, but Begu isn't such a strong opponent - likely better on clay. Also Schiavone and Peer have large shoes to fill but I can't imagine both won't win. Kanepi, Vinci and Pironkova could be surprised, too.

R1 maybe Safarova, Kirilenko, Schiavone.
R2-R3 looks more bloody.

Kvitova might have trouble with Glatch, partly because she played so late into Eastbourne and their match is TBA. In Fed Cup a few years back Glatch beat Kvitova easily on fast indoor courts by using slice.

But Kvitova has improved greatly since then, and is more capable of handling slice shots now, and Glatch has gone nowhere. It's an interesting matchup because both players have qualities similar to Davenport in terms of big athleticism and in Kvitova's case clean ballstriking.

I have a feeling that Schiavone could lose to Dokic.

I could see Wozniacki going out in Round Two to either Mirza or Razzano, and Azarenka losing to Rybarikova.

Not that I expect it, mind you.

for non title contenders it might be better to focus on health and longevity than possibly injuring yourself for a QF finish.

Hantuchova doesn't have much longevity anyway. She's 28, with maybe two more Wimbledons left. She'll sell her soul for a QF in one of her last chances.

Maybe Schiavone.
