I think some players have to tell themselves things like this. For example, Heather Watson (who I love) said she is going into Wimbledon thinking she can win it. Not realistic, but they have to motivate themselves. I don't know.

I think all 128 players in both the women and the men should feel that way. It's what being an athlete who wants to win is all about. Of course it may not be realistic, but athletes had to deal with the doubts and being told their success isn't going to happen or be real.

Sometimes....when you've got delusional-itis...you just trick yourself into thinking you're playing well. I mean, grass has brought out SOME of her good play but it's still WAAAAAAAAY too inconsistent. I mean, Ana, really. Look at your 2008 schedule:

Sydney SF
AO F
Dubai 2R (l. Dementieva)
Indian Wells W
Miami 3R (l. Davenport)
Berlin SF (l. Dementieva)
Rome 1R (l. Pironkova)
Roland Garros W
Wimbledon 3R (l. Zheng)

That first half of the year is ALREADY better than the last 2 years girl!!!!!

Of course she meant that, but let's pretend that she's totally retarded and bash on her.:crazy:

The worst thing is that she doesn't believe in those words and it's so obvious. If she loses the match after leading 6:0 3:1; or wastes 5:1 lead and 5 mps, deep down she doesn't believe that her tennis is good enough for winning one single match, let alone for winning a slam.

Ana only talking about hers improved PlayStation skills in past 3 years ,
but people here is so negative about everything which she says or doing.

And BTW talking about hers real tennis potential, she has deep mental and big fitness problem right now, but even during this crisis she is capable for example to play whole set on TOP5 level (when she focused enough that forehand is still there). So at some point in (near???) future things may change very fast in good direction for Ana. And don't forget that born in November of 1987 she is still youngest WTA GS champion and 2nd youngest GS finalist. Playing pathetic for hers previous standards there is just about 5 better ranked player younger than Ivanovic. Look at all players which reach GS finals in past two years: at 23 and half (Ana's current ages) Na Li is around #40 ranked, Schiavone around #20, Stosur around #30, Zvonareva around #20... I still give Ana over 50% chances to be back better than ever, so statements like this will be counted as "too early", not like "too wrong" at end ;)

True words. I think it's just a matter of time before the resurgence of Ivanovic. But really, she is taking her time with this...

She is so stressed and on edge in her matches. I think she is too focused on keeping herself positive in the matches. Going up 30-15 in a game is maybe not so much to fistpump about. Even if you happened to hit a winner. Because hitting the winners is supposed to be standard not something extra!!
I think she should be more NEGATIVE with herself in the matches... What has she got to be cheerful about, considering where she is now and where she was? I wanna see more violent angry behaviour and more swearing from Ana. More good girl gone bad. She is wasting precious time feeling positive.

I don't agree with her statement but I also don't think she is a million miles away from competing for slams again. She has the talent, if she sorts out her mental issues she could do some real damage on the tour. At this point that is a huge if but she still has time to turn her career around and get back to where she was circa 2007/2008.

Ana is a very sensitive girl thats why with all the hullaballoo with being #1 didnt suit her mind

if she can get anywhere on her game she can be lethal, but thats the BIG Q, can she ever reach her potential? i dont think she ever has

someone like Carlos Kirmayr would had be the best coach for someone like Ana (or better still, if i was her coach)

Like a politician, she should just release these statements instead of speaking live.
It is always the same after a couple of wins

2008 Roland Garros 4R: Ivanovic df. Cetkovska 6-0 6-0
2011 Wimbledon 3R: Cetkovska df. Ivanovic 6-2 7-6(0)

Yet Ana thinks she's better in 2011. :hah: :spit:

Interesting. Guess Cetkovska really improved! :oh:

Imagine Anči reaching 4R... :p It wouldn't be the first time for her to lose a match like this, but 4R would be great result in this moment.

Miracles don't happen nowadays ;) And we have proves for this case!

I bumped the thread where she said "I'm going to be world number 1 again" before Roland Garros and she then lost to Larsson in 1R but it got locked. :tears:

This could be an accurate statement because IMO her level was never impressive. I watched the RG '08 semi between her and Jelena and I thought it was a low-quality joke match especially by Jankovic.

I feel sorta bad for Ivanovic. But at least it was a massive improvement from the last two slams. I thought for sure this would be 2nd week for her.

I must admit I don't like her but I feel bad for her also. As I Safina fan I know how it feels.

Ivanovic fans.

Agreed.

Ivanovic's win said more about the quality of the field and the state of the women's game in '08 than it said about her personal greatness.
