If it were not for the unfortunate back injury of Safina I am pretty sure she would have won about 3 slams by now.

2009 U.S Open- She had a cakewalk draw to the final. Kvitova, Wickmayer, Wozniacki. And a healthy Safina is far too powerful for Clijsters on a hard court. She had blown Kim away a month earlier when they played.

2010 French Open- Nobody to beat a healthy Safina here.

2010 U.S Open- Clijsters won playing even worse than 2009. Easy pickings for a healthy Safina.

I am not sure about this year as there seem to be a few more threats but these 3 for sure would be won by a healthy Safina.

Noone is far too powerful for Clijsters on HC... And what about the fact that she couldn't hold it together mentally in the finals she played?

That being said, yes the injuries problems with her back is very unfortunate.

Sorry, but Clijsters can resist the WS on the quick US deco-turf. Safina hit's a heavy ball, but she doesn't really have the power required to outhit Clijsters.

Obviously she would win the us open 2009 final if she had reached against Kimberly... Het game is just too powerful and effective against hopeless Kimberly just like in Cincinatti that year

She would have at least 6 slam finals. And be easily the best slamless #1.

What probably should have happened was her taking a long extended break after the 09 US Open. Skipped the 2010 Aus, and gone straight onto clay. She would've been rested and healthier, and maybe would have been a slam champion.

Downside to that is, if she had won a slam, she likely would've retired earlier this year.

lol, the back injury didn't cause Safina to play so shit in her 3 other slam finals!

She had Ivanovic and a nervy Kuzy in two of those finals.

She never had the mental capacity to get over that final hurdle anyway.

Kims only big win at the last 2 U.S Opens was Serena. Venus is old and past it and still should have beaten Kim at last years U.S Open.

As for Safina not having the power to outhit Clijsters did you see their match in Cincinnati a month before the 2009 U.S Open. She powered her right off the court.

Um, I'm not Kim supporter, quite the opposite, but Cincinnati was Clijster's second tournament back, and she still gave Safina quite some competition, as opposed to earlier this year where the roles were reversed and Safina was absolutely steam rolled.

Old past it, injured Venus still trashed World Number One Safina at Wimbledon in 2009. She may not be where she used to be, but even then she's still too much for Safina, prime example being where She still took peak Safina to three-sets on clay, and probably should've won, but didn't.

Clijsters is too fast, has a more reliable serve (although her serve is still terrible), and is powerful enough in her own right to resist Safina's power on all surfaces.

Meh... not so sure about this? I could have seen her winning the 2010 French Open, though.

Yes, but if Sharapova didn't have her shoulder injury she would have won all those slams instead of Safina. Just sayin :)

Her back wasn't a the issue when she was in her slam finals, it was all mental.

You guys are funny. No way this is for real, right? On a scale of talent from 0 to 1000 one gotta have at least 1 point to win slams:lol:

Coulda, woulda, shoulda, honey!

Safina was a pathetic mess in her Slam finals, and there's no reason to believe that would have changed. Also, Cincy was Clijsters' first tournament back after being gone for a long time.
