People have had a bit of a go at me before for starting so many of these threads, but I am really intrigued by this.
Stosur leads Zvonareva 7-2.
Zvonareva leads Azarenka 6-3.
Azarenka leads Stosur 4-0.
The simple answer is "match-ups", I know, but WHAT specifically?

Sam's serve > Vera's return game
Vika's return game > Stosur's serve
I never really understood why Vika struggles with Vera. (or at least did earlier in her career)

Vera = smaller (bad for kick service return)
Vika = tall (good for kick serve return)
Sam = bad match-up for tall counterpunchers

It is strange. That is why head to heads shouldn't be taken into account when deciding which player is better.
The same could be said if you replace Bepa with Li Na.

Zvonareva doesn't own Vika. She beat her three times when Vika was 18 years old and ranked between 80 and 25. Since then the H2H is 3-3 and Zvonareva has even been bagelled twice.

Vera owns Fran, Sam owns Vera.
But when Sam played Fran in a slam final-BOOM!
