What are you basing this on? They just returned to playing after being away due to health issues. I am expecting nothing this year. If they do well the rest of the year and manage to remain relatively healthy that would be a nice bonus.

You cannot tell me that no one on this board was thinking this. It was just a matter of time before someone started a thread. And, in case I need to spell it out, just because I started the thread doesn't mean I agree with those who reply yes to the question :oh:

Venus- Yes.

It's been 3 years since she won a slam and at this point would have to get pretty lucky.

Serena- Probably not.

But she would be one of the few tennis players ever to do well after 30. It's possible though since she relies less on movement than almost any other player.

Totally. They are bot useless and dont have what it takes to win slams anymore. I mean they dont stand a chance against this new breed of players, especially our #1 Wozniacki......

http://i54.tinypic.com/fs17c.gif

Sike. They are passed their peak but they still are gonna win slams. Serena more than Venus. I do think Serena will be one off those rare players that wins slams after 30

For some reason I have this feeling that one of them is going to win Wimbledon this year, I especially keep thinking that about Vinas. Have no idea why.

Well, the sisters are getting older. Who knows what might happen down the road. Personally, I'm just glad their back playing again. They've already made history so anything added will just be a bonus. I believe they both have a few slams left in them, it just depends on whether they get injured or not.:)

Venus needs to go ahead & win Wimbeldon this year & then use 2012 as her farewell tour

LOL, are you mistaking Serena for the player in your avatar's game?

Serena is still a fine mover, and plays fine defense when she relaxes.

I think you just need to ask all the players that, including Sharapova, on how much of a threat on grass (and still hard courts) that Vinas is.

LOL at the crazy.

Serena will win at least 5 more (2 AO, 2 W, 1 or 2 USO). Venus 1 W at most.

Who knows. They're kind of old now unlike when they had injury lay-offs before. On the other hand, the Next Big Thing hasn't exactly come along either.

I hope so! I want her to end with at least twice as many slams as her closest rivals Justine/Venus.

Counting Serena out of a slam is like counting out a dumb comment from Sarah Palin.....tread carefully

They have passed their peak long ago. The current tour simply lacks talent and courage to be a threat on the big stage.

Serena for sure will win more. Venus probably won't but she'll take out a handful of top players in slams, just not go the distance.

They will slow down eventually...but generation suck will have to improve very much if they want to push the sisters into retirement.

Only 5? I'd say Serena will win back to back calendar grand slams in 2012 and 2013. AND olympics. Overall she'll end up at 25 slams and Venus at 12. Much more reasonable prediction, don't you agree?

Serena? Don't be ridiculous. A year out and she almost routined a top 5 player in straight sets before fatigue caught up.

Venus? I still think it's up to her. Even though she hasn't won a slam since 2008 and is 30 now, she still almost never loses if she plays a good match. If she can stay healthy another slam is within her grasp.

I think the best tennis vinas can produce nowadays isn't good enough to win a slam. And I obviously don't mean her peak tennis just what she's able to produce now.

I think Serena still has at least one more major left in her. She's a gamer, she thrives under pressure and her game right now doesn't depend so much on her athleticism.

Venus? Hmmm...one has to think that if she doesn't win one this year, that the window has closed.

After Wimbledon, I think that my prediction is the most likely.

Venus will never win another slam.

Serena needs an adjustment period, but she should be able to get back to playing championship level tennis.

I do think that they both have passed their peaks. But it doesn't mean that they won't win any more slams. I think Serena can win 3-4 more slams. And Venus maybe 1 or 2. It really depends on fitness and where they are mentally. Serena's serve can win her the slams. Venus will have to fight hard to win her slams. With the young players still not stepping up to the plate, I definitely think the older players still have a chance at the slams.
