View Full Version : What Car's (Do you drive?/Have Driven?)

Jun 13th, 2011, 12:04 PM
Dont think I've seen a thread like this one, I did search and found nothing so...

My first car was a 2002 Renault Clio 1.2, which was ok a bit unreliable but fun to drive...

I just bought a Skoda Fabia 1.2 to replace it :D

What cars do have/have had?

A Hyundai Atos Prime in silver. I actually never picked the car myself, my mum just bought it for me. I was hoping for a VW Polo or something like that, and it caught me by surprise. Although it is not the prettiest car ever, I still like it. It has proven to be very reliable in the last couple years. :)

Brilliant topic.

1969 Lincoln Continental. Suicide doors fucking rule. Hand-me-down from the 'rents. 10.8 mpg.

Mine was blue. Slightly underpowered, but amazing cornering and braking by '80s standards. It gave it's life to protect me and my pregnant wife in a 5-care smash up on an icy winter highway.

When the VW died, they gave me a check exactly big enough to buy a Dodge Shadow. Interestingly, it works out that a Dodge Shadow is pretty much exactly equal to a totaled VW Jetta in terms of fun-to-drive quotient, performance and reliability.

My not-yet-ex got a steal on a Volvo, so we ditched the Shadow and I inherited her Camry. Boooooooorrrrrring. And despite Toyota's reputation for quality, one of the least reliable cars I've every owned. Pretty much imploded at 89,000 miles.

'99 VW Passat. Aside from the wonky electronics, a great car. Came off second best in an encounter with a pickup truck.

2000 Passat. At 180,000 miles, this one is starting to show its age, with bits of trim falling off and some chronic oil leaks and suspension issues. College tuition limits my options, so it may have to soldier on for a bit. When the time comes,I'm probably going to downsize somewhat as I will be an empty nester soon. I think I'd rather buy a small, cheap daily driver and then get something stupid and fun for the weekends, like an old beater of a sports car. Depends on son #2's scholarships and how business goes, I guess.

I'll be shocked if I can remember them all, but here goes:

1985 Ford Mustang
1986 Pontiac Sunbird
1993 Mazda MX-6
1996 GMC Jimmy
1999 GMC Jimmy
1999 Oldsmobile Intrigue
2002 GMC Envoy
2003 Pontiac Montana
2010 Chevy Malibu

There might have been another Jimmy thrown in there; I don't know.

92 Toyota Camry - good car, kinda boring

04 Saturn Ion - my favorite car ever. 5-speed and fun to drive.

95 Lexus ES300 - bought for $2000 when Ion was totaled in freak storm. Ran it into the ground.

03 Hyundai Elantra - meh.

From 2005 to 2010, I have driven an Opel Astra (first phase, model 1991), Rustic but convenient to go fishing

Since 2010, Peugeot 206cc. Nice little car, less convenient to go fishing ;)

I kinda think that most if not all cars suck except a BMW.
