Venus Williams vs. Andrea Petkovic

If Venus is back at 100%, she will win this, she is the best grass court player on the tour. But then, she has been out forever. Not sure what Petko can do, but I don't like her to go into Wimbledon with one preparation match.

The 4th quarter is just mind boggling. A whole host of in-form players + Vee. The sisters' return might throw a wrench in a few player's Wimbly prep from the looks of it. :tape:

Venus and Serena are always in shape when they come back, so i don´t expect Petko to win this.

unfortunally Petko wasn´t able to break back at 1-3 in third set (15-40, and another BP at AD) but i haven´t seen the match and so i can´t judge if she wasted or Venus just served well or played good facing Breakpoint.
But good fight from Petko, it´s not shame to go out against Venus on gras, even when it was her first match since January

yeah really not a shame to lose to venus on grass... it was the worst possible draw to get especially when you're seeded :(

Sad for Petkovic, hope this one match is enough preparation for Wimbledon.

I don't even mind her losing to Vee; it's just all the stupid comments from the Petko haters that annoy me. Some of them act like she murders puppies for fun in her free time. I don't know what their beef is.

Except the beef from the Dutch folks. But that's expected. :oh:

last year she reached s´Hertogenbosch final and lost 1st round at Wimbledon.
imo at Wimbledon you need a good draw more then at any other Tournaments.
there are some really weak Grass-Court players out there, and some really tough ones (Lisicki as example)
i don´t have high expections for Wimbledon, but a 3rd round would be nice, but it all depends on the Draw

in my calculation she defended her s´Hertogenbosch points already with her Strasbourg victory
because i knew how hard it will be to defend her points at the strong Eastbourne field

I didn't saw the match but losing in 3 sets against Venus isn't a shame... Good luck for Wimbly girl :rocker:

Saw Petko practicing at Eastbourne yesterday afternoon, spent a happy time courtside watching her go through her routine.

Hell, she is one physically impressive girl, very strong indeed and hard working.

Lets hope for a good wimbledon.
