R1 against Vandeweghe
R2 probably Scheepers
R3 Clijsters

Good luck Kiri~ it would be great if you could win a match, perhaps maybe even 2.

She has to win 2 matches. Last year, i wonder how Scheepers did so well but Maria has to beat her. And in the 3rd round, as Clijsters is more or less injured, she would also has a chance...

But we all know Maria and a 1st round victory would already be a good result:lol:

Surely she can't lose to Coco. I don't think Coco has ever won more than about 3 games in any MD slam match.

Edit: okay she won 4 games once. And combined with her poor slam record, with her poor movement clay should be a weak surface for Coco.

Coco's slam MD record:
Australian Open Australia
GS 17 Jan 2011 to 29 Jan 2011 Entry: Q Hard (O)
128 L Alize CORNET (FRA) 2-6 1-6

U.S. Open USA
GS 30 Aug 2010 to 11 Sep 2010 Entry: WC Hard (O)
128 L Sabine LISICKI (GER) 1-6 0-6

Australian Open Australia
GS 18 Jan 2010 to 30 Jan 2010 Entry: WC Hard (O)
128 L Sandra ZAHLAVOVA (CZE) 0-6 1-6

U.S. Open USA
GS 25 Aug 2008 to 07 Sep 2008 Entry: WC Hard (O)

Coco. Clearly wrong there.

Kiri still too passive in winning the first set 7-6, I really hope she raises her level.

Actually the double-hit call was borderline, since the rule states that unintentional doublehits are allowed. It happened so fast that I don't think it was on purpose. But her momentum made it look like she had a second push at the ball. I think that was accidental. It's a judgment call though, and the umpire's decision is final, so not much anyone can do about that. Anytime you doublehit you're at the mercy of the umpire's judgment.

Coco didn't really lose that set because of that one call anyway. She lost because she played poorly after being 5-2 up in the tb, and also when she served for the set.

Looks like Kiri is safe now, the momentum is firmly in her favour and Coco has gone off the boil, although this is the best Coco has ever done in a GS maindraw singles match.

Kiri has definitely been too passive. Her serving has no aggression.

Yeah definitely. It's good to get the win but Maria definitely needs to start playing more aggressively. She always does well when she's aggressive but doesn't seem to implement that game plan too often. Maybe it's a confidence thing.

well done today! :worship: it was nice to see Maria win twice in a row... she deserved to win it seems to me she´s coming back slowly where she was last year but we´ll see on Saturday... now it seems to be easy to get through to R4 but it´s important not to underestimate Arantxa she deserves all the credit for her performance against Kim... it could be a good match and hopefully Maria wins... it looks easy now to defend her points but she has to stay calm and prepare for next match it´s good chance to go further but she has to use it..

We can't blame her, she played an amazing tennis, was a bit unlucky, almost dominated the whole match, created a lot of things on the court but her opponent is more powerful and doesn't need to create to win. She just needed 1 or 2 shots to make the point and that was the difference today, i loled when she tried some volleys, Maria should teach her how to do:lol:

3rd match on court 1 tomorrow for Vikkiri, they have a great chance to win the tournament but she also had a big chance to reach the 1/2 in singles...

No, I'm proud of her. I just cannot stand that thing she lost too. It's too much to lose to her 3 times in a row in as many weeks.

I'm bitter and I don't even care. Hopefully Sharapova rips her a new one.

Just take a look at your siggy, cause Vikkiri is coming to the rescue! They won't disappoint. (If they do, feel free to come kill me.)
Let's just put this loss behind us. It's never good to dwell on such things.

Sharapova played an horrible match today once again, that's why i really wanted Maria to win especially after the 2nd set when she was dominating...She's so unlucky when she has good opportunities in her career:sad:.

Now i hope that Vika won't get injured as she's also a very unlucky player. They need to win that tournament!

It's alright lol I just have some major anger issues. A 4th round is great for Kiri given how her year has played out so far. I just wish she'd take her chances more. And tennis gods forcing me to watch her lose to Petkovic 3 times in a row is just cruel! :sobbing:

It is a sad loss :(. Fought so well, then hesitated a bit a 4:4.. Also, I find it always sad when ballbashing wins about technique. Please Masha, I've never really been a fan, but please take her out.

Big Masha had more winners than unforced errors today on slow red clay against one of the best defensive players on the WTA Tour in Agnieska Radwanska. Sharapova played better than you think even though she made 44 unforced errors.

I was so looking forward to the Big Masha / Little Masha showdown in the quarterfinals. But it was not to be. Makiri fought her heart out today and almost pulled it off against Andrea Petkovic. That loss must sting Maria but she had a good French Open and that was good to see since her form this year leading up to Roland Garros was poor. Masha looked crushed after the loss and the Petkovic did her moonwalk to the cheers of the crowd. I don't know what to think of Andrea's dances and moonwalks. She adds color and pizzaz to women's tennis but her dancing can certainly annoy her beaten opponets. I wonder what Makiri thinks of Petkovic's dancing. She probably doesn't care. Andrea is both entertaining and annoying. As for Little Masha I'm pleased she played some good tennis in Paris and she looks very good and her new Adidas outfit is fine. :D  I hope she can build on her solid French Open and have a good grass court season.

Good fighting but sadly she still lost. I started watching when it was 1-1 30-0. Then it became 2-6. Then I lost my connection and I couldn't watch anymore, but Maria played better then. Sadly not enough to let her win.
Still a 4th round and hopefully she got some confidence back.

And now let's go and win the doubles title!

I'm happy Sharapova won. I actually think Kiri would have been much harder for her, because Kiri knows her and is not afraid of her. Against Petkovic she played one extremely bad match at the Australian Open, but than this stupid dance and now there is a good chance that she will never lose to her again, which I like very much ;).

Hello everyone,

This is my first post. I saw Maria at Roland Garros for the first time, she played well, and it is so sad that she couldn't win against Petkovic. She played very well and deserved to win. Watching Petkovic lose against Sharapova was a great satisfaction, I can't stand her and her moon walk.

Hi,

I was in RG with Maki for the 1st round and as he said we saw Maria against Coco Vandeweghe on court 3. She is an amazing beauty and plays quite well :worship: so we decided to follow her results in RG (and in the next tournaments).

Too bad she lost against Petkovic the moonwalker, Maria deserved the victory  She was also unlucky in the double with vika...

We wish her to keep this level (and even better) for grass season !
