I don't know what to think about thast she's playing here... I think she would have withdrawn if she would have played better in Rome and Madrid... maybe a good opportunity to get some confidence.

Andrea vs Anna-Lena Grönefeld in Strasbourg R1.:lol:

Definitely interesting. And there will be a stream.

she should have pulled out imo

agree. Now Andrea will be dead tired in Paris - mentally and physically. And crash out early. :(

Here`s what she said after her R1 win in Rome:

"I was very frustrated after my match in Madrid. I think I was still mentally tired after Fed Cup and all the hype in Stuttgart, so I played terribly. But I worked hard after that, I had a couple of really good practice sessions and practice days. Now I'm feeling good again."

The quality of play also isn't great. ALG has lost a lot of her power on serve. Looks a bit better mentally though.

hmm.. after today's match, what do you think guys, will this tournament be better for Andrea than Madrid and Rome? I watched the match but I'm not sure.

Andrea won her R1 match 6-3 6-1. Solid performance! :yeah:

R2 vs Zhang and QF vs Kirilenko should be no problem. SF probably vs Hantuchova!

was it really necessary to do her moonwalk petkodance after thrashing her "friend" on court?
I guess Petko decided that the lopsided score was not enough of an embarrassment to ALG.

Petko, you are so cool.

Now she has won all the matches she had to win after Madrid and Rome.
Let's see how far she can go. I think it would not be a shame to lose to Hantuchova anyway.

Andrea easily into Strasbourg SF! :cheer:

The next match vs Hantuchova will be a good test ahead of the FO.

Petko, you are so cool.

Did you see the nice hug at the net? I guess not.

And 1) it was no trashing. The match was much closer than the scoreline shows. Could have ended 6-4 6-4.

2) her petkodance is there to celebrate, that she advances to the next round. The fans want to see it.

3) you can be sure ALG is smart enough to understand this. Certain other people (haters?) don`t want to.

I also thought the Petko dance is retired, I think it is kind of strange that she is bringing it back.

The Petkodance was un-retired by popular demand!

Her service game remains so erractic. At least a final, but she has to step up against Bartoli.

I also thought the Petko dance is retired, I think it is kind of strange that she is bringing it back.

She will do that only on clay. ;) They'll get mad otherwise in Wimbledon.

BTW Julia congratulated 1 min after the win, nice to see the girls following each other matches so close. :)

i was at my local tennis-club and followed the scoreboard on my i-phone
the app said Bartoli won, and i was really shocked, a injury 1 day before RG would be the nightmare
but then it changed to Petko as winner, really sorry for Bartoli, i hope it´s nothing serious, but i´m happy Petko is fine.
and 2nd title is great, sure, winning this title by retirement isn´t the best way, but it´s a title :)
