View Full Version : Next great US hope Beatrice Capra loses to Petra Rampre in Florida 25K

Apr 14th, 2011, 07:36 AM
3-6, 6-2, 5-7 in the first round.

Rampre being of course, a well known powerhouse of the ITF tour who has spent the last nine years or so ranked between 400 and 600. Go Amerika.

She's not going pro yet, going the college route. So not exactly america's next hope

1. Trice was never heralded as our next big hope. Certainly a good prospect, but never as hyped as Oudin, McHale, Vandeweghe, or Stephens.
2. Her poor form lately is due in part to her trying to improve her game. She generally was a mostly defensive player and counterpunched (if you look at her USO draw, she played Sprem, then Rezai... two of the biggest UE machines on tour). She has said in a couple interviews said she is trying to add more offense to her game before heading to college. She wants to eventually be on tour and knows she has to add some more aggression if she's going to be successful. A transition like that will take time.
3. She's already committed to Duke and will attend there for at least two years.

Happy for Petra but Capra´s result wasn´t very good nowadays as simonsaystennis said ;)

Definitely Riske´s loss to some 24 years old girl never ranked higher than 796 is more alarming.

Why is any new American, the next great US hope? We've had like 10 over the past couple years.

Beatrice was NEVER the next great US hope. She got very lucky with her draw at the US Open by going up against 2 of the biggest brainless ball bashers on tour. Her pusheresque game suits well against players who after 5 shots hit it into the wall or into the net.

I reckon she would rather go to college..seriously...being a journeywoman at such a young age is no fun

She never was America's next hope, she just had a good run to the 3rd round of the US Open until Sharapova double bageled her
