Agnieszka Radwanska  Yes, that was my first tennis love. But then I've about 15 or 16 years old and I didn't know any other tennis players, so I cheered my compatriot ;)

Capriati!
right at the beginning. I heard about her somehow (at school maybe) cuz of how good she was and how young she was and I rented that "Jennifer Capriati Tennis" game for Sega when I was a kid which by the way...was a pretty tight tennis video game for that time actually. "Love" had started. I started to check out some of my first matches on tv always hoping to see her, bought myself a racket and hit the courts and did not return that video game to the store for a very long time:lol:

Was and always will be a fan, but I can't say I ever was in "love" with Martina.

She and Ashe were the two stars who got me into the game as a fan, though.

Not only first, but my only one true tennis love :hearts:

Elena Dementieva :inlove:

Elena's goddess-like perfection transcends tennis. She is the acme of feminine beauty, the very manifestation of adorableness, the pinnacle of sublimity.

And that's without the bangs.

Gaby forever :hearts:

I had a dream that looked just like that once.

Kidding aside, I never thought she was 'all that' with the mullet, but she must have made a pact with the devil or something. Definitely the single greatest thing to ever come out of Argentina. She gets better looking every year.

First? Hm...possibly Tracy Austin. That was when I was young and stupid and had a thing for blondes. Then there was Andrea Jaeger and her pigtails, and Bettina Bunge...Gaby...then noboby for a very long time....Maria was OK...and then that Spring day in 2005 the first time I laid eyes on Aravane and got hit over the head with a brick....*that* was love.....

I don't remember that match. By early '97 I'd kinda lost interest in tennis.

But I imagine I would have fallen for Anke instead :hearts:

Then in 2000 I got on Jelena's bandwagon when I started to see her more.

But since then I've come to be quite fond of some of the past greats such as Goolagong, Evert and Graf who are probably my favourite players after Serena and Venus.

I'm old so my first tennis love was Chrissie and I only got to see her once a year at the US Open b/c that was the only tennis ever broadcast on my black and white tv.

Then it was Steffie (in colour)
followed by Martina Hingis

I must've loved her, too...I remember going to Frankenmuth, Michigan (famous German town in MI known for their chicken dinners) as a child and, looking across the parking lot from the Bavarian Inn, you could see the Carling Brewery. I would always think of her when I saw the sign.

This, of course, gave birth to one of her most famous lines (she was named "Carling" after the brewing family).

Interviewer: "So what's it like being named after a beer?"

CB: "Well, it could have been worse. I could have been Pabst Bassett."

I think the early marriage may have had something to do with her father's death when she was still a teen, but that's the armchair psychologist in me talking. Sadly, she also struggled with bulimia. She has been very active in helping bring attention to the fact the pressures of competition can lead young athletes to have eating disorders.

On the bright side, she's still married to former doubles slam winner Robert Seguso last I heard and they have several kids, including some who are fairly decent juniors players.
