I would like some feedback on an idea concerning the Grand Slam results.
The results are posted in their own section.

Here is the way the section currently looks: http://www.tennisforum.com/forumdisplay.php?f=108

Years ago my former co-moderator Brian Stewart proposed posting results as they are now, with separate sections for singles, doubles, and mixed.

My preference is to unite singles, doubles, and mixed under each slam. The advantanges would be:

* Easier searching with only 4 slam threads (as opposed to 12)
* It makes standardizing names easier.
* It is easier to determine what still needs to be completed.
* I could create a united "records" section for each slam

If the majority prefers to keep it as is I will retain the original fornat. Other ideas are welcome.

The Slam results setion is quite cumbersome.

It would seem sensible to me to have all the event results pertaining to a particular year in the same thread.

Thanks for the feedback Chris. So you would prefer a year by year over each slam?

I'll consider that.

Of course we did 1 thread per slam it should be easy to then go back and have them in yearly order.

I'm glad it's not just me who thinks that!

I will be uniting the threads over the next four months. May will be the "Aussie" month.

Notes: With an overseas touring party to Wimbledon with Boyd yielding a quarterfinal showing, (losing to eventual runner-up Joan Fry), Akhurst dominated the Australasian titles in Adelaide. Shaking off a persistent knee injury suffered during this overseas tour, Akhurst won the title without dropping a set. There was an air of finality about the whole championships, with Akhurst thumping Boyd 6-1 6-3. The last game of the final epitomised the women's singles as a whole. Akhurst won it to love and served a centre-line ace on the final point.

Requests:
(1) Always put the period after the d.
(2) Put one blank space before and after each slash in doubles results.
(3) Don't abbreviate "semifinals" as "semis." Same for the quarterfinals.
(4) Put commas in the scores.
(5) M.L. Taylor should instead be M. L. Taylor.
(6) L.Bolen should instead be L. Bolen.
(7) I don't see the need to type the full names of each finalist.
(8) Should be Australian Open instead of Aussie Open.
(9) Always put the period after an initial.

Thanks for the feedback so far. After about a week I'll see where we have consensus (and act on it) and where we don't (and make some decisions).

I don't see too much wrong with the format as listed.

Most of austinrunner's suggestions I'm easy either way but I personally wouldn't like to see commas in the scores.
