Which matchups (between any players, past or present (preferably notable)) would you say vary immensely from surface to surface? More specifically, can you name any matchups where there is a notable or evident discrepancy between the two players on both clay and grass, with one being the favourite on one surface and the other being the favourite on the alternative?
Reasons / videos / head to head records would be great! :)

Serena and Henin.
Henin usually had the edge on clay.
Serena always played Justine better on hard courts.

Considering they're playing tomorrow, why not look at Safina-Zvonareva?
Still, Davenport never lost to a Williams on carpet (except for a W/O in 2001 not included above).
Yeah, you'd think that it would be more evenly distributed between Lindsay and Venus. Why did Lindsay dominate on carpet, and Venus on grass?

:yeah:, but every time they meet on clay Jankovic always has the edge :). It showed in Rome last year :)
Still, Davenport never lost to a Williams on carpet (except for a W/O in 2001 not included above).
The clay is because Lindsay only plays Strasbourg and Roland Garros on red clay for the most part. She whores up the green clay for her clay practice. Venus occasionally plays the green clay and never played Strasbourg. So the only red clay meetings could have happened at Roland Garros, which neither did all too great at.
As for carpet, Lindsay is amazing indoors and carpet, while Venus' record on carpet is rather mediocre because she rarely plays on it. So Lindsay just loved the speed of those quick carpet courts.

Yeah, you'd think that it would be more evenly distributed between Lindsay and Venus. Why did Lindsay dominate on carpet, and Venus on grass?Grass and carpet obviously have their differences, as do outdoors and indoors conditions. The latter really suit the better strikers of the ball.
Evert was the queen of clay, but Nav had her on the fast surfaces.
Yup and it was even more telling when you examine their results in FO and Wimbledon. Both Chris and Martina won 18 slams in toto. Chris had 7 FO titles and 3 Wimbledons. Martina had 2 FO titles and 9 Wimbledons. The difference in surface results made it possible to consider both of them as the most dominating players of their time despite both playing virtually at the same time.
