It was 4-4 40-0 in set 2, and she fell apart. Pretty pissed about this loss.

Alright Safina let keep it up great win and come back

So Disrespectful
Mar 24th, 2011, 02:11 AM
Seemed fairly competitive, but Jelena needs to learn to keep her focus on important points in these matches. She had a break in the second and was 40-0 up at 4-4, then lost it all very quickly.

Hard to judge from the scoreboard but glad Safina pulled through in straights. :D

Hope it's a good match vs. Bepa. Not sure who I will route for.

Good win, Dinara. I watched a 2009 tape of Dinara, and she was so confident (even her serve was working). I hope she can regain that old confidence, even without horrid Krajan.

she must be tired after the 2 3-setters...

Safina u better win against Zvonareva

Tough battle, knew after last week that Dinara would be difficult to defeat, close battle though...Still picks up a couple more wins and some points though so not so bad :)

 Failed to make it to the famous 2nd set TB this time had more than enough chances for that, so frustrating. :(

This loss kills me, she had her chances and fucked them up! broke back to 4-4 in the first then got broken back to love, then 2-0 in the 2nd and 4-4 40-0 and fucked that up too. she double faults way too much early in matches how hard is it just to place a serve in when your serving at the start of the match? too many double faults to give away breaks, especially the first game of the match which turned out to be crucial. just makes me so angry

Really happy for Dinara. :D She really is putting the pieces back together bit by bit. :yeah: It's such a shame that the two lovely comeback stories of the year so far had to play each other in a first round. :(

to be fair, safina played well from 4-4 40-0. however, i thought jelena would pull through after she had a very lucky netcord on safina's first bp in that game
overall a shaky match from both. the official stats had jelena at 27 winnners/45 unforced or something like that
dinara was around 19w/25ue
it was what you expected from this match, a lot of big hitting and a lot of errors. jelena's hair was dyed black btw.

Dina needs it more.

Jelena  too bad she couldn't win today and continue her streak, but not much to complain about after such success recently :).

Dinara  good to see her sustaining the form. She has now won three tournaments in a row, big improvement :yeah: can certainly beat Vera.

Very disappointed Jelena Dokic lost after her great victory in the Malayasian Open final. If, as they say, Dokic was 4-4 and 40-love up in the second set, she needs to work harder to take advantage of any possible breaks. I am sure she will learn from this loss, and come back stronger in her next tournment. Jelena wants a much more successful 2011 compared to poor form in 2010.

What three tournaments in a row? At Indian Wells she was knocked out by Sharapova.

LJM
Mar 24th, 2011, 03:59 AM
45 is far too many unforced errors for Dokic.

LJM
Mar 24th, 2011, 04:10 AM
I am sure Jelena Dokic will be working double time on her serve to stop these double faults - especially the first game of the first set!

LJM
Mar 24th, 2011, 04:20 AM
Jelena Dokic doesn't have a tennis coach - maybe she should get the right coach, if she could afford one, to improve her finess, stroke play and match strategies against different players! Her current form was good enough be beat Safina but far too many (45) unforced errors. Its a pity she couldn't play at Indian Wells because I think her form improved (at Malaysian Open) with constant match play. Its a pity she did not have a tape of how Sharapova thrashed Safina at Indian Wells!

LJM
Mar 24th, 2011, 04:27 AM
Because Jelena was seed 1 in the qualifiers (if her revised ranking was available in time she would have gone into the main draw, not the qualifiers) & won her two qualifing matches; she automatically went into the 1st vacancy match in the main draw, which unfortunately was against Safina. Anyway the second round is against the world no.3 Zvonareva which will be a very tough match.

I dont get why someone cant say all the things she(he) wanted to say once

and Dinara was thrashed by Masha doesnt mean she would lose to Jelena 100%.every player is different.and it's not the first time Di was thrashed by Maria on that court.

Exactly!!
True.
And obviously Maria is a way way better player than Dokic.
and when she played Dinara, she was playing her best tennis since like 2008,so Dinara had some bad luck there.
@LJM-you know I can understand its just your outburst after your fav. player-Dokic lost, that doesn't mean you will say something about Dinara,no you don't have the rite to.
And FYI,Dinara has achieved MORE than Dokic in her career,as of now.

Dokic won her last tournament she played in Malaysia and safina lost in 2r or something.....jelena has achieved far more than Dinara in 2011 and was in better form coming in to the match than Dinara. of course jelena was expected to win, but dinara seems to match up well vs jelena:sad:

of course Maria is a higher calibre player than Jelena, no one would be silly to say otherwise:rolleyes:

Dinara beat Dani and Stosur at IW. She didnt show up at all in the Sharapova match. She kept double faulting her service games away and then gave up.
Which is the opposite of how to play Sharapova. You have to make her play, not gift her points.

But Vera is a whole lot better than Dokic, or anyone Dinara played since Clijsters

Dinara played Masha as well, and is Vera better than Masha?
Maybe currently,a slight better, but Maria always defeats Bepa,I mean whenever the play Maria wins most of the times.So.
But in any case Dinara lost to Maria too :help: ,hope she at least gives some good challenge to Vera. :)
I think she has done some good job at Miami and IW already, real thing will be the clay season, where we can expect Dinara to beat the likes of Zvonareva.
