Say what you want to about Caro, but she's very efficient when playing scrubs in general. The dress is also slightly less ugly upon closer looks.

Her form has certainly improved since R1, and she's looking more like the 2010 iteration of herself. Obviously passive for the most part, but really hitting her shots when she needed to (the BH was typically excellent overall).

Vania  That serve is just way too weaksauce.

Good win for Caroline. :clap2: I`m also pleased that she got back to playing aggressively again. :) I think that she was toying with everyone by playing it close to the vest in her first round match. ;)

Damn, that was some good tennis from the number 1. 26 winners for 8 errors. Came to the net a lot and had a good success rate. Hopefully she can keep this form up, because that will be hard to beat.

Vania  Tough draw for her really, but she was hitting the ball quite well. Hope she can keep rising up the rankings because it will be good to see an intellegent player making an impact.

I was wondering what the Xbox players would come up with and take away from the game. Neah, Vania wasn't awful but she got schooled. It happens. Much better movement from Caro today Vs her heavy feet in R1. GL to Vania in dubs.

Vania was actually playing some descent tennis and there were good rallies too. True though that she hasn't got any weapons to challenge Caro when she's in the mood. And Vania's second serve is simply too weak at this level.
Of course Vania's game gradually fell apart towards the end.

Before the match the expectation was Caro would pathetically allow King to control the match and rely on her opponent's errors. But when Caro instead controlled the match in pretty agressive fashion it's a small thing to overpower King.

Wow, very night and day from one round to the next. Caroline played very passively against Dulko and relied on her to fall apart but against King she was very aggressive and really dominated the match. She seems to have regained her form from the summer/fall hopefully it continues and she can make a very deep run.

If Caroline and Dominika play in the third round I expect Caroline will play much better than she did in Sydney. If both players are playing well at the same time it should be an entertaining match but Caroline should prevail.

Smothered. Wozniacki was dogged on each and every point and King cannot be asked for more than 1 clean winner a game if she is lucky.

I'm really amazed at how people are worshipping Pushniacki and treating her as the heavy favourite to win the tournament after this match. Yes she did demolish King today but that is by no means an indicator of her contention for this major as King is just an epic mug and fail as a singles player.

At last year's USO Pushniacki was also bulldozing through her first 3 rounds, only to be thrashed by Bepa in the semis. I believe that it will be the same at this year's AO. She lacks confidence in the majors and will bow down to the first decent player she plays(Henin in QFs). Just wait and see. Pushniacki will not win this year's AO, neither will she win a slam in her career.

Then she has to learn how to deal with the wind. If she wants to stay at the top of the game, she has to adapt to the conditions outside and not allow them to mess with her game. A real top player can handle all kind of adversity and challenges posed to them in matches and Pushniacki apparently cant. This shows how illegitimate Pushniacki is as a world no.1. She is a fraud. She should get some tips from Nadal on how to handle windy conditions:o.

20 and #1 is certainly not a good sign. Look at Ivanovic and Safina. They reached #1 at a young age but fell down the rankings in the end. And Chakvetadze who reach #5 but plunged down so after as well. Pushniacki could very well succumb to pressure and follow in their footsteps so I think you should worry more.

Bepa is still peaking and improving her game though she is 26 already. She beat Pushniacki 1 and 0 this year, so I have absolutely nothing to worry about.

Yeah, the WTA really needs crybabies players like Zvonareva to dominate the tour and not (solid) players like Wozniacki. :tape:

20 and #1 is certainly not a good sign. Look at Ivanovic and Safina. They reached #1 at a young age but fell down the rankings in the end. And Chakvetadze who reach #5 but plunged down so after as well. Pushniacki could very well succumb to pressure and follow in their footsteps so I think you should worry more.

Bepa is still peaking and improving her game though she is 26 already. She beat Pushniacki 1 and 0 this year, so I have absolutely nothing to worry about.

You are hilariously deluded :haha:

Very encouraging comments! Caro, I hope you keep it up! Did not want a slump this year, she needs to keep her momentum from last year!!

20 UE/9 winners for King. That's not gonna do the trick against Wozniacki.

I'm really amazed at how people are worshipping Pushniacki and treating her as the heavy favourite to win the tournament after this match. Yes she did demolish King today but that is by no means an indicator of her contention for this major as King is just an epic mug and fail as a singles player.

Considering how well it went for Bepa in the final I'm kind of glad Caro didn't win. :spit:

I think that both Vera and Caroline have enough garbage to deal with from the media, do their fans really need to turn on each other? Both players had their best seasons last year and they are both contenders to go far in Melbourne.
