I am so impressed with how well she has played lately. Such a solid effort. I guarantee that Jarmila Groth will be in the top 10 by the end of this year!

And Meghann Shaughnessy will win a slam. :wavey:

Groth got her chances. But she'll have to improve her moving on court and her consistency.

I think it takes more to be Top 10 than a good run here and there. But I think Top 20 is very possible.

There was a thread about this already

I can imagine this, already when she was playing for Slovakia she was even bigger hope than Hantuchova, this girl will have a decent career and I can imagine people making stupid threads about "new low of WTA" when she will make TOP 10 once :p

Let's see how she does outside Australia first. :p Half the battle for many Aussie players.

Her shots are awesome, but she tends to get down on herself mentally, and this will prevent her from achieving big things!! I hope I'm wrong...

Groth is one of the worst returners in Top 100, almost same league with Amanmuradova.:tape: OK, she improved her fitness lately, but still has horrible footwork. There is no way she would be a Top 20 let alone go deep in Slams (read QF or higher reagularly). Just another hyped Safarova because of big groundies and serve.

Then why is she crashing her opponents - it means she has to break their serve, right?

This year only Top 15 I'm afraid, Top 10 next year:)

I think she's more talented than Stosur actually.

And Franny?
let's see whether she can defend her RG.
As for groth, I think that she can definitely be top 32 which would be great for Australia since they would have two great players.

Top 20 is quite possible, that's if she isn't inconsistent this year.

Jarka i don't think she'll crack top 10 this year, maybe in 2012. But i think she'll peak at 14 or 15, but fall down the rankings to around 20 this year

Grand Slam is something different than MM. ;)

You need to take a look at her now before being so sure about this. She has returned serve amazingly well so far this year. Her game has also matured a lot and she is no longer going for a winner off of every stroke. She is constructing points very well and awaits her chance in the rallies to strike. Right now you would have to look very well to find 10 players who play better than her. She will probably not be that consistent but if she avoids injuries she will at least be top 20 this year. And she reached 2 4th rounds in 2010. I'd say that is pretty good. And it's good to see that such a nice girl gets success!

Furthermore, I've been very impressed with her footwork this year. She's pretty quick changing directions. It seems as though she's working extremely hard physically.

I think Top 20 by French is pretty realistic. If she can do better (big call) at French and Wimbledon in 2011 then she could rise, but I imagine at the end of 2011 about #25. Which is still good (and good for Aussie tennis).

I agree about Jarka's strokes, they are great. But mentally she gets down on herself way too easily, sometimes losing concentration for quite a while during the game. This is what she still has to improve on if she wants to be top 10. I think top 20 is a good goal for this season.

I created this thread last summer. So I already called it. People laughed then but I still think it's a possibility.

And when it happens I'm bumping my thread. ;)

I thought I would hate her after Bethanie lost the finals in Hobart to her, but she played so well despite the shitty conditions that I couldn't really stay mad at her. She is definitely top 15/20 material as of now. Wickmayer is in a lot of trouble.

She blasts winners, that's how she wins. Her returns really are the worst part of her game. Watching the match with Mattek-Sands, many times Groth would just awkwardly block it back as if it were a serve to the body even if it wasn't. :o

I certainly hope so, she has the talent! Consistency is what she's been lacking, hopefully this year is different!

If she keep this form entire this year I can see her as top20 maybe not top10 yet.But she seem lost momentum easily like winning Guangzhou with great form then struggle even in 25K then peak form at the moment

Sadly, I think Jarka made a wrong turning somewhere on that road & is now lost in the outback.

Shame that it turned out to be such a laughable prediction. I like her, but she's been such a horrific mess since early last Summer. :(

Why did this need to be bumped? rubbing it in too poor Jarka. Split up with her husband in the past year and had many facepalmesque like performances. Still love her though.
