Report;

SMC is REALLY good.
Look at doubles #1. Dolehide/Remynse just won the NCTC beating Barte/Burdette. Poorta's defense, Isip's short balls..pretty impressive.
#3 Fisher(white hat)' slice was very low too.

Singles;

Both teams seems to have 'stacked' :lol:

Remynse at #4 :lol:

And the newcomer, french player #5 Jullien.

Is this a #5 match? :lol: Pretty high level. This Jullien can attack at both ends, good movement, nice defense.. Johansson wasn't that bad.
Jullien was just that good.

Whereas Dolehide was kinda sub par today. Yes Isip IS a sharp attacker, though.

Wonder if Hickey and Pantic plays..how would it effect the lineup?

Anyway UCLA, as always, boasts strong depth.

And SMC can repeat the WCC title. EVERY player is good. Pepperdine should step up.

Stella has always been a bit wily with the line-up, especially at the bottom. She's smart to realize that UCLA is better at the bottom of the line-up (in most recent years) than the top. Isip always trees when playing in front of parents. Julien is not goood. Johannson won first set easy and checked out. Dont over state one opening dual matxh. SMC will compete for WCC... but its one one ho hum matxh for UCLA.

FAR from the truth. Was she glad her father was there? Probably. But don't say that she trees. If her parents saw her play and win like 600 matches, then she must have tree'd in them. She puts the hard work in and I'm glad it's paying off.

Well, I thought that Jullien played well, was pretty impressed at the level of both players.

And Isip really played well. She got quite a bit of drive winners.

To quote coach Sampras on UCLA website;

'"St. Mary's is a strong team and is going to win a lot of matches," added Sampras Webster. "In fact, it's probably one of the toughest openers that we've ever had. I thought today was a good experience for our players and a nice team win to start the year."

Well. looking forward to USC vs LBS! :)

You're right. I think USC intends to go that way after Sanchez's graduation too :lol: bottom heavy.

Well, I think every team will aim like that, unless you're a superteam like STAN and UF.

No beef. Isip been around So Cal a long time. If you look at her college results... she plays by far her best when they are in So Cal. She has some loses up north that makes you :confused: One of the local girls told me the theory in Catherine and it appears true. Julien lost to LB's # 3-4 Debs Armstrong in fall. She's not gonna win many matches like that... but Maya Johansson also has history of being real big or :confused:

Of course Stella is going to throw big props when her team gave up 2 pts. Duh. SMC is a nice mid-major mid 30's to 40's squad. They should be right there for WCC title.

Fantic... you gonna come back to LB this year for a match? They finally finished the $70M Rec Center so all the contruction around the facility is done!!! I promise not to point you out in a newspaper picture again this year too.

The LB-USC match would be more intersting if Malenovska were playing. She comes eligible mid-season. She will be eligible when LB goes to Notre Dame in early April.

ch'EATERS had to bastardize the rules so badly to record a 'win' at Big West that I hear some coaches are proposing major rules changes to penalize a coach that 'LIES BY OMISSION' (which makes you an unethical LIAR) when hiding injury and stacking a line up.One time I heard the Long Beach St. head coach do a radio interview after the loss to UCI and she didn't suggest even once that UCI had cheated. When asked directly about the potential cheating she didn't go there or make any excuses but took responsibility for the loss. After that I thought the LBS head coach had class.

Form what the LBS head coach said publicly and what you post on this board contradict each other. So Form answer me this. :confused:

Is the LBS head coach just two-faced, saying the right things publicly but thinking the exact same things as you privately or is the LBS head coach just classy while you Form are classless? If she's two-faced it would make sense that Form is speaking for the LBS head coach. Form if you're just classless then why not be more like your LBS head coach who never suggested even once that UCI cheated. :kiss:

This chat is tired of both of us.... let me close with:
• You have not and cannot defend the actions of your coach... he withheld the truth (lied) about Hammel's injury to stack her at # 3 and slide the line up down. He had actually submitted her at # 2 I am told but they moved her to three only after he admitted she was not better than Bisharat at that time. HOW ABOUT EVERYBODY ELSE IN THE LINE UP?
• We should really feel bad for UOP and UCSB girls who got screwed. The LB team played poorly amidst the circus... but the stack thus worked. All three teams hard working and honest student-athletes got screwed.
• The LB coach had enough class to actually go and shake his hand after the match... at which time a half dozen ch'EATER fans/parents heckled her. Nice ch'EATER class.
• So you attack me personally... I do not recall attacking 'you'... just the actions of your coach
• I am told one of his own former players no longer speaks to him for what he did... at least not as of mid-fall.
• Several coaches at the GT regional you went to also have commented about the 'stack' as well as questioned why Kwan was a head of Smith and having the 'doubles specialist' at # 1 dubs. I'm not making this up... just gotta hang around a bit at Rivi and you pick up a lot of dirt.
• Your coach cheated and he knows it... and I hear people are working to prevent that from ever happening again

Like being a felon, once a ch'EATER... he will always be a ch'EATER. What kills him/you is that other coaches in BW and back east know what he did. It just took some time to catch it since college tennis isn't exactly like men's hoops instantly on ESPN. But it's been exposed.

To your LB coach point... she's not airing out the laundry. But I do hear she's trying to get some rules changed so no one can never pull this stunt again.

Who can leak Form details on what happened at a coaches meeting :secret: besides the LBS head coach? And that's just one version of the story. UCI and conference officials have a different version of the story because they ruled in UCI's favor.

You're right Form I'm calling your ongoing smear campaign on the UCI head coach classless. You don't seem to realize calling someone a cheater and liar is a personal attack defaming his reputation. :help: Bottom line is Form doesn't have documentation to prove any of his cheating claims. UCI didn't have to forfeit their wins. No mention of cheating on the official LBS release. No mention of cheating by the LBS head coach in public interviews. Form is probably posting his UCI cheating accusations on behalf of the LBS head coach.

I have no problem with changing a rule for the better. Just like LBS had a freshman who could legally drink :drink: in Klaudia Malenovska. They changed the rules so no more 21 year old freshman Malenovskas will be allowed in college tennis in the future. But changing a rule after the fact is proof whatever UCI did was within the current rules.

Form run away if you want :bolt: because that's what people who can dish it out BUT can't take it do. :kiss:

Hat happened here? Was this a shocker result, or would you say that just an example of start of the year rankings not being based on much.

It's always tough winning on the road. Vanderbilt looks to be a very under-rated team. Northwestern look to struggle in doubles and the bottom half of their lineup. We'll have to see how they do tomorrow when they play Georgia Tech.

Could be a repeat of last season, two teams meeting at the final. Problem is that it's STANFORD's backyard, the infamous Taube Stadium :lol: UF would wish it would've been theirs, them holding 2nd longest home winning streak ( 5 years?) Stanford's timing (to host NCAA) is just perfect :o

Feel like 3-6 will be interchangeable with Mather in there. I guess time will tell as the season goes along. Florida has a lot of depth and options.

Against Long Beach St. USC sat out their best player in Sanchez which to me was a slap in the face and a sign of disrespect towards LBS. :eek: USC treated LBS like how LBS would treat Cal St. Fullerton or UC Riverside when the 49ers might sit out their #1 singles. I guess USC must have thought SDSU was the better team even though LBS is ranked higher. :lol:

Speaking of holding back, I was glad to hear that UCI's coach decided to hold back Hammel and give the rest of the BW a chance this year. Props to him, and I am sure that her wrist injury was not a factor since she was healthy enough to play at the end of the season last year :).

But personally I would rather she take a medical redshirt. Then after Widjaja graduates I'd enjoy watching Hammel beat out Klaudia Malenovska for the Big West NCAA singles auto bid the next 2 years. :drool:

When the Big West Tournament is played in 2012 Hammel will be a 21 year old redshirt junior. Malenovska will be a 23 year old junior. Even after Hammel sits out a year to be in the same grade, Malenovska is still 2 years older. :eek:

I sure hope Hammel does what is best for her health and not what is best for the coach ;). If that is a redshirt year so be it but at least she can heal this time around. I like Hammel as a player and wish her the best.

Rob you're just assuming how things are done at Long Beach is how they're done at UCI. So I guess you're implying at Long Beach St. the head coach is the person that has the most power on deciding if an injured player plays before she's capable or ready. And after hearing the LBS head coach's BWT outburst towards Julie Luzar in 2009 and her loud outburst against the chair umpire in 2010 I have no doubt she can bully any of her players to get what she wants. Here at UCI though the person with that power to decide if someone injured plays is 1st the doctor than 2nd the player herself. The UCI coach just decides where in the lineup she goes with final approval coming from the other BW coaches at their pre-BWT meeting. ;)

Well gouci, I believe that my comments are fair based on what I have seen happen. We have discussed to death the Hammel scandal that resulted in her having to redshirt this season, but I have also seen this type of behavior from your coach regarding another player.

Last year when UCI visited LBSU for a match, April Bisharat obtained an injury that greatly reduced her mobility, also looked to be very painful. To make a long story short, April made several requests to her coach to have the match stopped but he always said no. It was not a comfortable sight watching a player in great pain, tearing up on several occasions, being required to play without any chance of winning, from the point of injury. All April could do was shake her head at her coach and just stand there as shots flew by. The end result, Bisharat loses, and then transfers to LMU at the end of the year.

I assumed that this was standard practice at UCI, but on second thought, it may just be another example of the coach's desperation to beat a LBSU team. In any case, it makes you wonder about a lot of things.

UCI is last because we've been plagued by injuries. But when healthy I'd like to see #8 seed UCI knock out #1 seed LBS in the 1st round of the Big West men's basketball Tournament. :drool:

I have men's basketball, women's basketball, men's volleyball and men's tennis to follow. I might pay attention to women's tennis after these other sports are over like next Fall. ;)

If you read my post you would note that I said 'Coach' told me she would be sitting them because of this rule. You are right that the only rules I know are what are posted here or what Coach has told me. I actually don't have to read the rules. I just have you tell me how UCI will manipulate them.

By the way, who's fault is it that UCI women have to play a walk on?

Perhaps your coach because he played a seriously injured girl last spring rather than think of her well being first. It is my understanding your cheaters also are short handed because your # 2 and # 4 from last year also quit due to issues with said coach. Players quitting happens but if your coach had put Ms. Hammel's welfare ahead of winning at any cost than he would not have a walk on in the line up. So this year UCI looks like they may have to pay the piper.

First time away from home for the 3 freshmen in dual matches, and Duke is indoors, where Florida is not as good as they are outside. I'd say considering the circumstances, they were very impressive. Not many teams have to face 2 top 6 teams on the road in back to back matches.

Poorta hurt her ankle, bad enough to retire. UW had a live blog going on. Isip was up 5-2 in 1st set.

If Poorta couldve won, and I think she would have if she werent injured, might have given Jenny enough belief to win. SMC couldv'e gotten the upset.

She might have, but Chan is Chan. Granted, her results aren't that good compared to last year, but she was the one who won the tiebreaker against Sanchez and sent the team to College Station. I just marvel how she plays so well, she's tiny! :lol:

Well they did win the doubles pt against WF.

I agree about Nze/Reka, but they chose to make Nze/Fahoum #1 (Granted, I think Fahoum is a good doubles player. Didn't she make noise at College Station playing for Old Dominion?). And
now they switched it. I don't think you can switch it too many, especially as it is already March. Squad should be paired in strength. Is Fahoum/Mar better than Fahoum/Nze? If it is, I can concede. If NOT, no way. And if they continue to play that line up I don't see how they can send Fahoum/Nze to the doubles championship. I really don't want to say 'STACKING', but it stinks

What I don't get is how Nadine gets waxed 1 and 0 the day before at No. 2 singles against ASU and then is moved up to No. 1 against Cal? Even though a lot of teams do it, matching up is illegal.
