Will Dominika play in Stockholm?

http://www.womenstennisblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/cibulkova-stanford-09-img_0080.JPG
Dominika just before the fall

Melbourne, Australia - Yes, without any doubt she had spectacular weeks in Melbourne. Rude ones say she didn't showed anything special here. More, they say she had awful single start, highlighting fact that the doubles title was win mainly by Anna Chakvetadze, not her. What she thinks about such opinion?

Originally said by Dominika Cibulkova

And then she adds:

Originally said by Dominika Cibulkova
I really don't care about other people's opinions. It's obvious that they envy me. Anna and I, we are the first winners of Slam in new fantastic tour. It's really shameful, that other people try to debase my success, so the talk about my lost in first round against Azarenka, who for goodness' sake play in final.

But after match, there were voices which said that she shouldn't play in Sweden, because it rather impossible to move so fast from Australia to Sweden and because of exhaustion after AO. Additionally during the match she unfortunately fell down.

Originally said by Dominika Cibulkova
It wasn't anything dangerous. But now I fell a little pain in my knee. But I hope I will be able to play in Stockholm and kick someone's asses.

So, keep your fingers crossed. And wait for her and hers matches in Sweden!

6-4 6-3

Well, in the first operner to kick of the Seden tournament, Elena Dementieva played the worst tennis of her life!! She couldn't get a serve in, let alone get any pace on it. Her ground strokes loked as if she was a woman who had just come back from an injury, while screaming at herself for her judgement on shot making!! Madison Brengle kept in there, with some very good, clear tactics, geting the job done in little than an hour, to book her well deserved place in the second Round!!

Ana Ivanovic (SRB) Def. Karolina Sprem (CRO)
6-4 6-4

With a decent match displayed off both women, Ana carried on her impressive form from Sydney, with an array of thunderous forehands and serves!! With confidence back on her side Ana had too much power for Sprem today, even though Sprem showed signs of greatness at times! Ana advances through to the Second Round!!

7-5 4-6 6-4

They didn't want it to happen, but it did!! Both Doubles partners, Pliskova and Keothavong battled for a place in the Secon Round, in what was considered an unexpected slobber knocker, with being equally exciting!! Pliskova just managed to bag the first set, after breaking Anne at 6-5!! However Anne came back strong in the seond set with some flashy moves of her own!! However she seemed to lose this in the third set with Pliskova capatalising to advance through to the Second Round!! Great match off both ladies however!!

JOHANNA IS READY
http://www.asbclassic.co.nz/players/Johanna-Larsson/imageBinary/larsson.JPG

Johanna Larsson arrives in Stockholm after a decent start of the season: nothing special, but she looks very happy in Top 15 of best player in the circuit.
Jo-La lost in the second round of Melbourne to a very good Date Krumm, and now she's ready for Stockholm, a tournament she always declared to be her favourite in the first part of the season. Johanna has been very clear: she wants to win more matches she can both in singles and in doubles (with her new partner Andrea Hlavackova).
Sweden expects a lot from Johanna in this tournament: a win would be very appreciated. But, as everybody knows, Johanna isn't rhe only favourite for Stockholm. People are really excited because of the presence of Alona Bondarenko (one of Larsson's dislikers) and Sabine Lisicki, the main favourites and the highest-ranked players here, while the experts think Chinese player Jie Zheng is going to be the winner here. There are so a lot of good players in Stockholm, and it won't be easy for Johannna, who received a bye in her first round, in order to face in the second Russian Maria Kirilenko.
Here is a short declaration of Larsson:

Interviewer
Hi Johanna. How do you feel? People consider you one of the main favourites, but you know it won't be easy. What do you think about?

Johanna Larsson
Why people have to make a lot of pressure about me  I don't consider myself the favourite, but it's obvious I'd like to win in Sweden.
I feel really well, this could the right place to reach Top 10, and this is one of my targets now. I'm glad I had a bye in the first round, but I've to be careful: Kirilenko is a good player, she showed her skills in these first two weeks, and she could be the winner! But I'm ready!
In my quarter there are also Wozniacki, Rezai and Sharapova. Wozniacki doesn't scare me a lot, and Masha doesn't seem to be at her Top, but Rezai.... please, defeat her soon
I think Bondarenko is the main favourite, but hey! We're in Sweden, and she cannot want to beat me twice!

Nadia arrived to Stockholm

http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_Qg6J04XZhR4/SLLECuou3oI/AAAAAAAACI8/BQJVxXOfmXE/s400/Nadia+Petrova.jpg

Stockholm, Sweden - Nadia Petrova, 9th in the world ranking, arrived today to Stockholm. Australian's semifinalist in doubles will start her fight from second round. Her opponent will be the winner match between Karolina Pliskova from Czech and British Anne Keothavong. But Russian star is really dissatisfied. After quite good Aussie Open, she had a little problem with acclimatization in Sweden.

Originally said by Nadia Petrova

After summer in Australia, it's really weird to play my next match in another climatic zone. In Melbourne I was able to sunbathing, and here I had to buy a chinchilla fur. And I even bought a warm underwear. But even now I feel cold. We should now play in Italy or Egypt, not in Sweden.

Nadia also complains about poor accomodation conditions.

Originally said by Nadia Petrova

It's really unfair I have to spend my free time in small room. I'm in TOP10 in single and ind doubles. And it's still cold here. I know we have economic crisis now, but It would be nice if they launch air condition in my room.

Hot news: Nadia will play in her first match against Karolina Pliskova

In a match that Timea had at her fingertips, Jelena Jankovic perceivered through a crucial Second Set Tiebreak, taking the Tiebreak with guts and determination at 8-6!! The third set however, still had people on the edge of their seats, with JJ and Babos playing some angry tennis!! Alona really lived up to her no.1 seed status today, battling in a well thought match. It looked as if Brengle was going to take the match within the second set, however Alona is one to never give up, and came back strong in the tiebreak, while backing it up with a strong 3rd set performance!!

Jie Zheng (CHN) Def. (6) Dominika Cibulkova (SVK)
7-6 (4) 6-3

After a tough first set battle Zheng took a hard fought battle!! Dominika Cibulkova had been threatening all tournament of quitting, because of a leg injury sustained, before she had even arrived in Stockholm! However, she apparently didn't want to let all her thousands of fans out there down! Least to say Dominika didn't look too happy, or let alone take kindly to Zhengs fist pumping and cheering! It will be very interesting to see what Dominika has to say in her press conference later!! But, I think which ever girl is present in the locker room at the moment, might want to avoid crossing Dominika Cibulkova's path!!

Noted as one of the nicest girls on tour, Andrea the No.7 seed played some mouth watering tennis against Ana Ivanovic today!! Andrea was so graceful out on court, and just unsettled Ivanovic, more and more, as the games went on and on!! Andrea hardly made any errors while achieving the feat of serving the most aces in the tournament so far, 13 aces!! Bad luck for Ana today who couldn't really do much to stop Andrea's cloud of thunder!!

6-3 3-6 6-3

With complaint, over complaint, over complaint, I'm sure Nadia Petrova will buck up, let alone jump for joy, now that she can go back to the comfort of food and warmth. This week apparently has felt like a boot camp for Nadia. With being top 10 in the world Nadia feels that she should have been treated more fairly. A lot of the girls seem to have had enough this week of her divaish ways. At least BFF's Dominika and Nadia can keep each other company on the plane journey back! Dominika, watch out Nadia is hungry!! You have been warned!! Karolina seemed to be focused on her match today, and now looks forward to her Quarter-Final spot, where she will face fellow country woman Andrea Hlavackova!!

Johanna Larsson (SWE) Def. (3) Maria Kirilenko (RUS)
6-3 4-6 6-4

Maria Kirilenko was by a mile the favourite going into this match! With the threat of Cibulkova and Petrova already gone, anyone would think Maria would relish the opportunity, however this was not the case. The Home Crowd certainly gave the home girl Larsson, the support she needed. After a good first set, it looked as if Kirilenko would soon be packing, but Larsson lost her confidence in the second set, battling it out with Kirilenko in a final set for a Quarter-Final spot!! The crowd wen wild at match point, with an exchange of respect between both players! Kirilenko must be disappointed after being seeded third here! But well done to home girl Larsson, who Sweden should be getting very excited about!!

Just when everyone thought that Maria Sharapova after a set down, then coming back in dramatic style within the second would book her place into the Quarter-Finals, everything went horribly wrong!! Credit to Aravane who played the best, ever seen all season, but Maria just seemed to lose it mentally. Since winning Sydney, critics have been questioning her concentration and awareness on court!! Every ball that she seemed to play, didn't seem to be right giving predator Rezai, enough time to eat the ball up. It will be very interesting to see what Maria has to say at her press conference later, but today however is all about Rezai!!

Crushing news!!!
Dominika in hospital

http://www.nursinghomesabuseblog.com/uploads/image/hospital.jpg

Stockholm, Sweden. This was supposed to be another ordinary tournament for Slovak star, Dominika Cibulkova. But Stockholm became a witness of tragedy.
But from beginning. Dominika played today with Chinese player, Jie Zheng. From the first ball Dominika complained about her leg, which became injured during Australian Open. But even with almost broken leg she was able to fight as equals against Jie. Zheng was in big trouble both in first and second set. But in the end the winner could be only one. Dominika couldn't fight with fresh opponent for whom it was first single win in this season. Even Swedish audience cheered Cibulkova, who is considered as one of the most hated player in tour.

After this weird match she appeared in conference room. Before the accident she said:

Originally said by Dominika
Well, it was sure I would lose. Even I'm not able to win with broken leg. This match showed the real difference between me and her. Now she barely won with me, if I would be healthy she won't have any chances.

But just after she said that, our young player fainted and started to shake. She immediately was taken to hospital, but doctors said, she probably be ready to play in doubles too.

With a very close match at hand, and the last spot for the Quarter-Finals at hand, Ajla and Sabine put on a fantastic match!! All three sets were close and equally as exciting, however, in the end, the young Croat came out on top, advancing through to a well deserved Quarter-Final!!

Nadia and her fur lost today

Stockholm, Sweden - In the shadow of Dominika Cibulkova's tragedy, the whole tournament is still working. Nadia in her first match in Stockholm faced to Czech girl Karolina Pliskova. This match wasn't a thing about Nadia dreams. After quite good match Nadia lost 3-6 6-3 3-6.

Originally said by Nadia Petrova
I played as good as I could and my opponent had good day. Maybe it's better that I lost, now I have more time to prepare to next tournament. And I can focus now to get healthy again. You now, because of bad condition in hotel, I got flu. I have to consider to sue the organizers of this tournament.

She has a lot of to say about the commentator of her match too

Originally said by Nadia Petrova
It wasn't the first time, when the commentator was mean to me. He accused me that I complained to much, I eat too much. Of course it would be better for him, if I sit in silence in corner, don't say nothing and be happy. I say it loud: I don't care where I am, I won't be say nothing when something doesn't look like it should be. I'M RUSSIAN GIRL!!!

I guess we should start to fear her.

Larsson and Hlavackova like Stockholm!

http://www.wtatour.com/namedImage/12781/player_311593.jpghttp://www.wtatour.com/namedImage/12781/player_80459.jpg

Yesterday, the first round of Stockholm as been played.
Johanna Larsson and Andrea Hlavackova are a team that seriously has to be watched, and their performances in single competition show it. But let's start with what happened a few hours ago.
Johanna Larsson, home favourite, had to face Top 10 Maria Kirilenko, who was also the third favourite for the win, in the second round of this G4 tournament. People expected the young Russian player win easily against Larsson, but they were all surprised when the player from Sweden won in three sets: 6-3 4-6 6-3 the final score. It was with no doubt the most surprising win of the day, which allowed Johanna move to the Quarterfinals! Johanna said after the match:

Johanna Larsson
I cannot believe what I did! I've seriously defeated Maria? That's simply fantastic.
I've to say all those people who supported me during the match: THANKS! You have helped me a lot win this hard match!
I'm playing a good tennis, but now it's always more and more difficult. Aravane Rezai is going to be my next opponent. I've said in the previous years I'm a bit scared of playing against her, if she's in the "right" day she can destroy me, litterally!!! But, as always, I want to do my best... who knows what will happen tomorrow!

A win, this time probably more expected, arrived from Auckland semifinalist Andrea Hlavackova. The Czech player made a good performance against another beautiful player, Ana Ivanovic from Serbia. Hlavackova defeated the former world number one with the score of 7-5 6-4. It has been a good match from both, but Andreas succesfully won the decisive points, thus adavancing in the Quarterfinals, where she will face another Czech player, Karolina Pliskova.
That's what Hlavackova said after this win:

Andrea Hlavackova
I feel really good. After a bye in the first round, I defeated Ivanovic in two sets, and that's a good signal for me. Now I'd like to reach the second semifinal of the season, and then it would be nice to reach the Top 10.
I know Cibulkova isn't ok and she was brought to a hospital. I never like her, but I hope she can get well soon: it's never a good thing when someone has an injury.
This week I'm playing doubles with Jo Larsson and, it's some sort of destiny maybe, our opponents are Kirilenko and Rezai. Maria was defeated by Johanna in the second round, while Aravane is her opponent in the Quarterfinals. That's so strange!

Two Semifinals for Jo-La!

http://www.wtatour.com/namedImage/12781/player_311593.jpg

Did someone expect Johanna Larsson to make two semifinals here in Stockholm? Those who tought it was possible were satisfied, but most of people are with no doubt shocked. It seems Jo-La didn't feel the pressure during this week, and so two semifinals arrived: in single, with a good win against Rezai, and in doubles with her partner Andrea Hlavackova, who won against Kirilenko and the same Rezai.
There's what Larsson said after these two wins:

Interviewer
Congratulations Johanna! You've reached two semifinals!

Johanna Larsson
Yes! That's simply amazing!

Interviewer
But let's start with your win over Rezai. You won with the score of 7-5 6-4, and you showed again a nice tennis to watch.

Johanna Larsson
Oh, thanks! I tried to make my opponent do a lot of errors, and of course I tried to make more winners I can. The score says very well what happened during the match: I was better today only in the decisive points; Rezai has played a good match, and it's a pity she lost now.

Interviewer
Your next opponent is the only seed survived in Stockholm, Marie-Eve Pelletier. Do you think you can make a final at your home?

[B]Johanna Larsson
As I've said this week, this is one of my biggest targets of the season, but it's not so easy.
As you said, Marie-Eve is the only seed who moved to Semifinals, so she's a tricky opponent, and I've to be careful tomorrow.

Interviewer
You also reached the Semifinal in Doubles with Hlavackova. And you defeated Kirilenko and Rezai twice here...

Johanna Larsson
This is going to be my perfect week! I feel sorry for Andrea, who lost to Pliskova in three sets, but I'm sure doubles represent a good opportunity to do well for both.
And I won't say anything about that stat!

Interviewer
Ahah. I understand. Thanks Johanna for the time you gave us!

Johanna Larsson
Thank you for your support!

Thanks everyone, the Semi-Finals are complete!! Congratulations to the Finalists in Singles and Doubles!! Going to be tough on Doubles Partners Zheng and Pelletier having to face each other in the Singles Final!! Also well done to Zheng and Pelletier also making the Doubles Final!! I'm sure Babos and Brengle are also very excited to be playing in the Doubles Final also!! Bad luck losers, especially to Larsson, who was playin in her home town!! But she made a great accomplishment making both of the Semi-Finals in singles and Doubles!! See everyone tommorow for the Finals!! :wavey:

Zheng (CHN) Def. Pelletier (CAN)
1-6 6-2 6-1
Both doubles partners put on a hell of a match!! Pelletier led a very confident first set, and it looked as though she was going to ride with the momentum that she had gained in the first set, into the second set! However Zheng, fought and battled like a tiger, raising her game of tennis to new heights!! Zheng was just too much for Pelletier to handle in the third set, with Zheng taking her first title of the year on the ART Tour!! Congratulations Zheng!! And bad luck to Finalist Pelletier, who has also had an amzing tournament this week!! I'm sure that she will do more damage as the year goes on!!

Zheng (CHN) and Pelletier (CAN) Def. Babos (HUN) and Brengle (USA)
7-6 (4) 6-4

Though was no bitterness between Zheng and Pelletier in the Doubles Final, as both women put on a tremendous play of dominance against Babos and Brengle!! The first set was very tight and could have gone either way, with Babos and Brengle having chances to take the First Set. However letting nerves get the best of them Zheng and Pelletier raced to get the First Set, working well as a unit!! The second set was another close one, however Pelletier and Zheng played too cleverly and tactically for Brengle and Babos in the second to take the Doubles Title!! Congratulations to Zheng who wins the Doubles and Singles Titles here!! Well done also to Pelletier for making both Finals, and managing to win one of the Finals with Zheng!! Also congrats to Babos and Brengle the Finalists here, who had an amazing Doubles Tournament this week in Sweden!!

Hlavackova made it on court instead of Brengle, bcuz Madison got into Vesnina's sextape and just can't get out.
