Which tournaments do you think Maria should play this year that she hasn't played in the years before and why!?

I really like that she entered Auckland a nice change for her and for her fans. And I would really like her to Play Dubai and Miami this year cause its been a while since we've seen her there.

I love this threads where we try to predict Maria's schedule.
Of course, she never listens to us.

Here is my dream schdule

Auckland
Australian Open
Dubai
Doha
Indian Wells
Miami
Stuttgart (she will probably choose Charleston and pull out)
Madrid
Rome (if she plays Charleston and not Stuttgart)
Roland Garros
Eastbourne (because she will win RG and be too tired for Birmingham)
Wimbledon
Stanford
Toronto
Cincinnati
US Open
Tokyo
Beijing
Instanbul

That's 19 tournaments, it seems reasonable...

And another Question is it possible for Maria to Add Sydney in her Schedule ?

I know Indian Wells is close to her home, but she really needs to dumb it and play Miami.

She just can't handle two tournaments well in a row, unless she got sent home early.

As a start, perhaps she should have made Sydney or Brisbane instead, but she might demand more money if showing up there so Auckland got her.

I hasten to add that emulating wozniator's season pace is like turning in the one porsche for 500 trabands. Sacrificing quality for quantity.

Per WTA Tour rules, Indian Wells and Miami are both Premier Mandatory events, so Maria is obligated to play both events unless she is injured.

Too much. Like she said, she is not ready mentally and physically to play 20 competition in a year. Understandable - She never played that much and she never will. Should understand this for her fans. ;)

I think will be no more in 2011 like this:

Auckland
Australian Open
~ Fed Cup ~
Dubai
Indian Wells
Miami
Charleston
Madrid

Birmingham
Wimbledon
Stanford
Toronto / Cincinnati

Istanbul (of course this not possible :p)

As much as I would like her to play in Sydney because that is where I live, I'm not sure if it's a good idea for Maria to play 3 straight tournaments. Because once Auckland starts, she doesn't really get a break until the end of the Australian Open if she plays Sydney. And when was the last time Maria even played back to back tournaments? I think it was 2006. I'll be shocked if she plays Sydney.

According to Maria, her fitness is better than ever. The fact that she commited for three tournaments in a row shows that.

Sharapova's body language on the court nowadays is awful. She looks so depressed and completely lost out there on the court as if she is going through some kind of a crisis or something. If she wants to improve her tennis, she is going to have to improve her body language and stop looking so depressed on the court cause it's giving people the wrong impression.

we had quite a dispute about that:lol: he did explain why Masha plays those EXOs (in short - Maria's helping in tour politics of making tennis more popular in those regions). as for a "good idea" - he didn't convince me a tiny bit. i too think playing EXOs now is stupid plain and simple.

and yes, Denny is ill (caught it at the same time with Maria:rolleyes:) and having computer problems to boot (hence, off-line).

i don't think she'll play Stuttgart at all.
i'm not sure she does really want to play anything, at all. she was such a mess recently. first, an urgent desire to change everything (personal status, coach, game), then a sudden apathy (match vs Petkovic, match in Moscow, caught a virus, withdrawls). she's a pale shadow of her former self - shaking hands and knees in so many last year matches and this year(come a key-point, a pressure moment). her biggest mistake is that she puts too many expectations of her own on shoulders. she only played good/decent when there was nothing to lose (Serena match, Kim match before the rain. and recently - Goerges match after the 1st set, Moscow match - after being 2 breaks down 1-4). she isn't enjoying the game most of the time, she isn't enjoying the process of competing (she says she loves the most).
all she needs to do is relax and enjoy her tennis, let herself make errors - just do not think of those errors, Masha! go on playing with your mind on the current point, not the previous one. that's the way you did before! you're not a slamless No.1 - you have nothing to prove. why put all this weight on yourself? just enjoy your game...

Not only am I confused as to why she's playing this exo in the first place but I'm also confused as to why Gisela Dulko?!

I mean, its called "All Star Tennis Weekend" so I'd understand if it was say Maria and Serena or Maria and Kim.....but Gisela Dulko! It doesn't make sense.

If there would be any tournament that you'd wished Maria would win this year outside the slams which one would it be?

I would like for her to win Miami :)

Yeah Miami :p

but any result there would be good, since she hasn't even played there for a few years.

And of course any big title would be great!

I know you said no slams, but I would love her to win the mixed doubles US Open with John Isner and at the press conference, reveal that she's no longer engaged to Sasha but to John Isner instead.

Oh GOsh . That would be fucking awesome :rocker2:

But instead of Isner she would hook up with Del Potro :hearts::hearts::hearts:...

Well considering that in 2009 she didn't play and in 2010 she lost because of Injury, the match against Alona Bondarenko at the 4th round there in 2008 was Amazing quality from beginning till the end :)

I remember watching that match on tv and was like "well this is going incredibly slow and Maria is not really playing well", that changed like late in the third set, surprisingly when the whole court was covered in shadow she started serving a lot better. :p Also I think the match against Alona was the one where she injured her shoulder again...

In 2010 she didn't play because of the shoulder, she played doubles with Vesnina though.

She played some amazing tennis to turn the match around. Even though she got injured she made some fantastic shots, not to mention her crappy match against Hantuchova which I have no Idea how she did it. And again Against Kuznetsova that year she was playing Crap and she got a set off her :tape:

The way she played against Kuznetsova was blasphemy. She needs momentum and matches.
And I don't know about y'all but if she keeps working hard with Hogstedt things will improve. I already saw some improvements in the AO, especially in the 3rd round. That should've been a very good confidence booster (since Julia was playing close to top 10 tennis IMO) but apparently she's forgotten how to carry good momentum from a previous match into the next one.

Sure, movement was pretty good she was hitting the ball so well in that match and serve was good in the last 2 sets but like you said her form, her tennis disappared one day after she was so off against Petkovic I seriously don't know what happened in 1 day but it was worrying.

Maria is going to need a really good draw in IW to defend or improve her points from last year.
The best opponents would be the ones who she has already played, the ones who Maria is able to grind out wins against. It would be better if she avoided qualifiers too. Considering the seeds, Radwanska would probably the best one to draw but bottom line is, Maria will have to play well to get further than R3 this time, but after being inactive (in matches) for a month I'm not getting my hopes up...

Miami might be better if she gets a couple of matches under her belt in IW.

I think she's most likely qualified since she's close to 5000 race points.

It's been a good year for Maria and a turning point in her second career. And it's definitely one of the successful stories for injury comeback as we can see all the hard work required and taken. And I think she's win at least a title during USO series, she's more determined this year.

Oh come on people. She was beaten by inspired tennis most of the times, except the one aganist Wozniacki in Indian Wells that clearly she didn't have enough energy to push. Azarenka was playing amazingly during Miami and Cibulkova was a better player on clay then Maria but she fought hard. During French Na was hitting her forehand winners like there's no tomorrow in the gutsy wind and Maria's timing disappeared due to the wind. Kvitova was playing incredible tennis in every department and all credits to her.
