Aussie Wildcard Play-Off. Dec 14-19.Jorn Nov 12th, 2010, 12:17 PM When will they play the Wildcard play-off in Australia and USA? Aussie Draw www.tennis.com.au Live Video at http://live.tennis.com.au Meelis Nov 12th, 2010, 12:29 PM Australian one is week of Dec 13. USTA one is Dec 17-19 iGOAT Nov 29th, 2010, 02:35 AM Here are the wildcards. 1. Alicia Molik (Confirmed as second discretionary wildcard). 2. Olivia Rogowska (Confirmed as the play-off winner). 3. Lauren Davis (Confirmed as the US wild-card). 4. Caroline Garcia (Confirmed as the French wildcard since Razzano got direct entry). 5. Jelena Dokic (Confirmed as first discretionary wildcard). 6. Sophie Ferguson (Confirmed as one of the discretionary wildcard). 7. Kai-Chen Chang (Confirmed as the Asian wildcard since original choice of Doi got in directly). 8. Sally Peers (Confirmed as the final discretionary wildcard). Meelis Nov 29th, 2010, 03:01 AM Asian wildcard - Junri Namigata spiceboy Nov 29th, 2010, 03:10 AM An alternate is obviously Olivia Rogowska. Also, if Molik were to get direct entry and/or Dokic wins the play-off their likely I would predict their replacements to be Jessica Moore and then maybe Isabella Holland? Wejnert? Jade Hopper? No idea about this one :p. OMG are you kidding me? :haha: hellas719 Nov 29th, 2010, 03:27 AM Jade Hopper MD WC :spit: You might as well give it to Brie :p AYUMI-GOAT Nov 29th, 2010, 04:13 AM  They don't even give Jade 25k MD WC's SVK Nov 29th, 2010, 08:05 AM How many Aussie WC´s? 5? French for Garcia please:awww: And Aussies - Dellacqua, Rogowska, Dokic, Ferguson, Molik..but if Molik will be directly in than Peers Jorn Nov 29th, 2010, 10:16 AM Ithink 5 Aussie WC's also 1) USA 2) France 3) Asian iGOAT Nov 30th, 2010, 02:34 AM Well who else :spit:? She's been playing doubles with Jarka . iGOAT Nov 30th, 2010, 02:34 AM OHHHH the Asian one. I'll add that. Daniel K Nov 30th, 2010, 02:36 AM Dellacqua is injured. She won't be playing. AYUMI-GOAT Nov 30th, 2010, 03:36 AM They should give Jarka/Jade WC for Doubles HOS Nov 30th, 2010, 11:36 PM 1. USA- I'd say Capra, Falconi, Ch. Gullickson, Hampton, Riske, VDW, Stephens & Rogers will be invited to play off 2. France- Made more unusual choices in last few years. Thinking of youngsters, the often injured Mladenovic you would think would have a shot- esp since she is playing Hopman cup. I think Lim and Garcia may also be options if they want to 'encourage'younger players. Althogh she didn't paly Fed Cup last year- Razzano is very much a FRench Fed Favourite, so you ould think she would have a chance. B'c I love her- but it woudl seeem unlikey - I am hoping for Olivia Sanchez. Cohen Aloro outside beet- she got it last year no? The much improved ranking wise - Laurendon, Thorpe, Picquion- I woud say won't get it. Highly doubtful Sev B Julie C or Steph F-G will get it- although i luff them too 3. Asia- waste of wildcard with current selection criteria. If they have to use it- it should bee how it used to bee- that is the highest ranked Asian player that does not already have a MD player- enhances diversity. They stopped that and had Asian Champ- which died in the are. The just pick the top Asian out f the draw makes no sense. Anyway, unless withdrawals, it would be 1 Namigata 2. Chang Unless Serena gets beetter and asks for a WC, the rest of the WC's will be Aussies. 4. Playoff winner (whoever that is- take off the following-in order of defo getting it) 5. Molik. Defo 6. Dokic. 2009 princess will be given another shot 7. Ferguson- I hope they reward her good 2010 8. Peers- great US Open will defo get her in If either Molik, Dokic, Soph or Sal win the play off probs Rogowska will get the next one. WTF happened to her? Was she injured? Promising 2009 but 2010 was DR-eadful. She needs to get bigger and stronger- she is way to skinny. Rogowska is like a JEss Moore- from a few years ago- great year afollowed by bad times. Moore will be lucky to get a QD WC. She should get it though. I'd say they will be: 1. Holland- returning form injury, probs won't get a MD WC unless she wins playoff 2. Letcher 3. Wejnert- again- Tennis OZ seem to like her- wasn't overly impressed with her effort again Karin Kanapp a few years back when they gave her a WC. She has dont nthing since 4. Mirkovic: reaching the 3rd round of qualies a few years back helps her case but like ROgowska, Wejnert & Moore hasn'tr really mad e any inroads. Not sure if any of these guys have been injured and that is the reason for the slow progress? 5. Parreson- made some imporvment, consistant on challenger scene 6. Moore 7. Maybe Jade Hoppper, to be honest no one else prob deserves on 8. for reason's above on 7, and due to media on her last year, and another Hopman cup- I'd say Robson HOS Nov 30th, 2010, 11:39 PM Doubles 1. Dokic Molik 2. Qrtfinalist last year: Robson-Peers 3. Rogowska Moore 4. Mirkovic Wejnert 5. D Dominikovic -Ferguson 6. Hopper Holland spiceboy Nov 30th, 2010, 11:58 PM 7. Maybe Jade Hoppper, to be honest no one else prob deserves one I bet they will find a way not to award a WC to this girl based in Turkey whose dad is a convicted rapist :tape: (not that is Jade's fault, of course but TA doesn't want any other Damir or weird stuff around) They will give this WC to the usual random 14-15 yo they think she will succeed in the future, like that Ashling Summer or someone like that. But definitely not Hopper, even returning Dominikovic might be a better choice than her. Daniel K Dec 1st, 2010, 12:02 AM I think Ashleigh Barty will get a qualifying wildcard. She's getting a lot of hype. Had a page article about her in the newspaper the other day. hellas719 Dec 2nd, 2010, 03:46 AM Does Karen Filippou have a chance at the QWC? Jorn Dec 12th, 2010, 08:30 PM AUS Open Aussie Play Off Draw now known. www.tennis.com.au Video. AYUMI-GOAT Dec 20th, 2010, 04:23 AM Monika Wejnert was in good form . Randy H Dec 21st, 2010, 12:15 AM Molik, Ferguson, Dokic, and Peers seem like very obvious locks for main draw WC's, unless someone else pulls off some big surprises during the first or second week of the Aussie circuit. Qualifying, I'd probably go with: 1. Jessica Moore 2. Tammi Patterson 3. Sophie Letcher 4. Viktorija Rajicic 5. Monika Wejnert 6. Marija Mirkovic 7. Alison Bai 8. Isabella Holland Hopper had a pretty dismal result at the WC playoff, and truthfully her only decent win this year came over Jessica Moore. Other than that, she hasn't shown the kind of results that suggest she's ready to take on top 200 players. Sumner seems to have Wejnert's number, but other than that she hasn't done much either. Mirkovic, Holland, and Bai are all girls who seem to have been around forever even though they're all still pretty young. Might be the last chance for all 3 of them, unless they show signs that they are going to progress as they've all stalled a bit. TS Dec 21st, 2010, 03:01 AM ^ Despite playing well in the play offs and finishing top 400 for the first time, Bai will most likely be overlooked for a younger player such as Sumner or even Barty. The rest of your 7 picks are all safe bets for a qualifying WC though. Holland is definitely in because she won the 18s tournament (winner gets a qualifying WC). iGOAT Dec 21st, 2010, 04:03 AM I think Bai definitely deserves it! But I think they will give at least one to a foreigner like Karolina Pliskova or Robson. Probably Mirkovic's. petey_pan Dec 21st, 2010, 05:49 AM Mirkovic is injured and missed the wildcard playoff so I dont think she's eligible for a Qualy Wildcard anyway even if she is fit to play? I think they will look something like this 1. Moore 2. Patterson 3. Letcher 4. Holland 5. Wejnert 6. Rajicic 7. Barty 8. Robson or a young international player (if not Bai) I would say Bai probably deserves one over Barty and Rajicic as she played well in the WC playoff but I too believe she will be overlooked. guichard Dec 21st, 2010, 07:13 PM Mirkovic is injured and missed the wildcard playoff so I dont think she's eligible for a Qualy Wildcard anyway even if she is fit to play? Last year cutoff was 219, she is 217 now iGOAT Jan 11th, 2011, 01:17 AM Here are my predictions. 6. Sophie Ferguson (She got the US Open wildcard so I guess they like her). 7. Kai-Chen Chang (Confirmed as the Asian wildcard since original choice of Doi got in directly). 8. Sally Peers (Has some good results and was a cute story at the Open, plus one a round there). So the only ones left are the discretionary ones. Alternate is Dellacqua.
