We all been told that Kim should receive 2.2 million for her victory in UA Open (+ Us Open Series) and yet here http://www.sonyericssonwtatour.com/page/Player/Activity/0,,12781~1583,00.html only $2,162,712 are present. Here is a question for WTA: Please explayn.

It was Wozniacki the one who won the US Open series!

It has nothing to do with winning US Open series. Kim was second and we were told about 2.2 Million. Should Wozniaki win US Open she would get more. The point is the 2.2 million were anounced and some 37,000 are missing.

From http://www.usopenseries.com:
*The USTA reserves the right to withhold any bonus prize money payment from a player who does not make himself/herself available for the Olympus US Open Series advertising campaign and/or other reasonable promotional activities as requested by the USTA.

2,162,712 Million isn't very snappy... it makes for a poor sound bite. Thus, they round it to the nearest 100k when talking about it... Or is this a comedy post where I don't get the joke? :p

Wow so even if you win the USO series If you don't do advertising for the USTA it means nothing right?

Well, Zvonareva did not qualified for the US Open Series bonus so this rule does not apply to her. Ad yet advertized 850,000 (http://www.usopen.org/en_US/about/history/prizemoney.html) payed $831,356 (http://www.sonyericssonwtatour.com/page/Player/Activity/0,,12781~9376,00.html)

Well, then I have no clue. I see Wozniacki got $641,226 instead of $650,000.

Vera was fined for her tantrum in the final and her poor performance. Caro was fined for her micro-mini dress. Kim was fined for staring at her strings while shaking Venus' hand after the semifinal win and lack of effort during the 3rd set of her match against Stosur. Its all here:

Are you kidding? A paltry $37k tax on $2.2 million? Surely it is way heftier than that.

No, the top 3 of the US Open series all get a US Open Series bonus that gets bigger the deeper they go in US Open:
http://www.usopenseries.com/Standings/Bonus_Challenge

US Open Series bonus payouts:
(Sorted by final standing in the US Open Seires)

Caroline Wozniacki: $250,000 for reaching the US Open semi-finals after winning the US Open Series.
Kim Clijsters: $500,000 for winning the US Open after finishing 2nd in the US Open Series.
Svetlana Kuznetsova: : $17,500 for reaching the 4th round (round of 16) of US Open after finishing 3rd in the US Open Series.http://assets.usta.com/assets/628/USTA_Import/images/sitecore_ustausopenseries/OUSOS/Site%20Image%20Assets/Bonus_Challenge/OUSOS%202010%20Bonus%20PrizC50A6.jpg

Kim only played 2 US Open Series events (Cincinnati and Montreal).

But playing nad earning points in 2 US Open Series events is enough to be part of the Bonus Challenge:
http://www.usopenseries.com/Standings/Bonus_Challenge
e. In order to qualify for Bonus Prize Money, a player must play and earn points in at least two (2) Olympus US Open Series events.
