Such a sad day for Team USA and tennis in general. She was such a promising player with a very strong all around game. It's too bad her career was plagued by injuries. All the best Nay Nay

She was an overlooked stalwart for American tennis for half a decade nearly. Wish her luck in whatever she choose to do next.

I had been hearing rumors about Shenay, Julie Ditty, and Carly Gullickson retiring. Sad to see Shenay pull the trigger.

Shenay Perry tells me despite other Tweets that she has not officially retired but is exploring her options. Stay tuned.

Really really sad. Shenay had so much talent and such a beautiful refreshing game. In 2006 I really believed she was heading for the top 20. But instead because of these stupid knee problems she has spent most of the last 3 and a half years ranked outside the top 150 and has spent only 4 weeks inside the top 100, peaking at 98. Shenay is so much better than that.

It must have been a very tough last three years working so hard to overcome the knees but still struggling so hard to get back to where she used to be in the ranking. Shenay deserves better than a life on the ITF tour and with this in mind I have to say I think she probably did the right thing but it ending a career like that can't feel good. I'm really sad for her. :awww:

I'm actually surprised to see how long she lasted in the tennis world. All the times I saw her she was like she did not give a fuck on court

Wish her luck in the future :wavey:

If she didnt care I think she would have retired a while ago and not worked her butt off to get back close to the top 100
I just think she didnt really show her emotions on court. And theres nothing really wrong with that.

As shocking as you may think it is, some girls stick to tennis as that is the only thing they know and still get a decent amount of money for being a solid top 150 player. Not saying this is the case of Shenay but it wouldn't surprise me either.

And yeah, I was talking about her (lack) of emotions on court when I said that. To me, she was the Acasuso of the WTA, the feeling I got is that they were on the court because they had nothing better to do that day.
