Another great week for Mirjana, she really is on the way back. She must be so encouraged right now.

Nice week for Lindsay Lee Waters too, she works really hard and hopefully she can have a good finish to the season and have a profitable 2011.

Such a shame she didn't make this career choice in c2001 or even 2003.

Her problem back then was that she was still getting wild cards into events on the strength of her junior dominance and her early promise. She'd lose first round in almost every tournament, and never get any match practice. It was almost suicide tennis she played, just hitting 100 unforced errors per match.

Nowadays, she's hitting only 75 ue's a match , but I have noticed just a little effort to impart topspin. The errors are still WAY too casual though. I really don't understand how a player can give points away like that, because when she's hitting the ball in, she'd quite often be on top, even against top ten players.

It's not too late for her to reach the top 50, if she continues to make adjustments and stays fit. Like I say though, it's a shame she didn't drop a level and get match tough much sooner. She'd have been number one.

Well done mirjana :) and on hardcourts too :hearts:

still has a lot of points to defend before the year's over but this helps immensely. just want her to get direct entry into the AO so badly! would be a great reward for her hard work

I am just loving every second of this comeback story. She is just too GD talented to have been in the tennis doldrums for so long. I guess this win assures her a direct entry into the Australian Open.

What I also found ironic is that Tennis Channel was airing a commercial for "Best of Five" Tennis'
Biggest Fade Outs. Lucic and Stevenson were prominently featured in the commercial. I think they may be eating their words soon. Our Croatian Sensation is well on the way back.

I don't know why, but I really like Lucic. I love a good underdog story. Hope she breaks the top 40 next year.

I guess this win assures her a direct entry into the Australian Open.

Not quite. It's looking very likely but she still has 96 points to defend through the rest of the year.

still has a lot of points to defend before the year's over but this helps immensely.

It's not too many, just 96 points. For perspective, this week's win gave her 110 points.

Very happy to see Mirjana back and winning :) Also nice to see Lindsay getting decent results. She clearly loves the game and still believes in herself, as it's gotta be tough playing the ITF circuit with two kids in tow.
