Dropshots queen and "Bottle king" Rainer won a 1st title together.

Olivia Sanchez, who lost to Romina in semi said : "...I believed (Romina) drove me crazy with dropshots....."

Now more WTA tournaments. Was like 'uh' when I saw her play in a 25k 2 weeks ago.

It's amazing how Romina came back, I thought she was done after 2008, but now she's back around #65!! 4th ITF-Title of the season and the second 100k :) I'm not sure if we will see her a lot on the WTA-Tour, she had so much injury problems and she'll never be able physically to play a full WTA-Schedule. She seems to enjoy herself on these big clay ITFs and I prefer a win there over a weekly 1R exit on the WTA-Tour :)

Yeah, I expect her to pick up more ranking points for the rest of the year during the Indoor European ITF events over the next month or so. So a top 60 finish for this year looks very much on the cards. I will then be very intrigued to see how Romina schedules her itinerary for next year.

My guess is after the AO she will play Paris and then the South and Central American clay events. And I'm sure she will play a full schedule on the WTA tour during the Spring European clay season and the Grass season as well. After that she will probably play any remaining post Wimbledon WTA clay events that still exist. I do expect her to opt out of as many of the US and Asian Hardcourt events as she can playing European 100k ITFs on either clay or indoors instead whenever possible.

Nevertheless it will be fun to have her back on the tour and I'm looking forward to seeing her more.

I hope she plays Rezai again soon after what Rezai did when Romina beat her.

Romina's talent is outrageous!!

I've never seen someone hitting so many perfect dropshots, lobs, angles....even hingis and radwanska.
Her ground game and serve are OK too.

Too bad her attitude and physique are preventing her from getting higher

what she did?

Apparently she smashed one racket on court, and smashed 5 more after losing because of the droppers. :haha:

Totally. Her skill and touch are just unbelievable. It's not just the dropshots and more conventional stuff - I've seen the Dropshot Dame conjure some of the most crazy ass shots imaginable. Like say a CC sliced floating BH passing shot winner hit from behind the baseline and with her back to the net.

And the slacker vibe she gives out just adds to the fun.

why should she play the wta when what she is doing now works well for her and gets her direct entry into the slams?

Love her:hearts:. I agree with what people here say about her: some of her shotmaking is astounding. I wish she'd play tour events more often.

Hope you watched 3rd set, and especially first 2 games, it was magical.

Next tournaments : Shrewberry and Torhout (challengers) after a week in Switzerland.

Rainer "i kick the bottle" was satisfied and very quiet after the match.
