Frankly I have not seen her win a match outside of the USO.

She needs to will herself to win matches oustide the emotionally charged atmosphere of the US venues

People shouldn't be too hard on Melanie after this result, she didn't lose to a scrub. Kaia is ranked 50 spots ahead of Mel, was the favourite and is simply a better player :)

Theres too much pressure put on her in the US.

She played in Japan  Are we talking about some long distance pressure?

totally true--we know Kanepi is in good form (US OPEN) and not too bad of a scoreline for Mel, either.

globalisation...and since most US things are made in China anyways, the pressure on her is still close enough to be felt

i know i wished for kaia to keep it up, but having looked at the stats i feel like yelling :help: at the top of my lungs. absolutely dismal stats. the only consolation i can find is that kaia is sometimes off to a sluggish start, especially after success (e.g. R1 loss in bastad after wimby this year). so i hope she will improve her game going forward. i have my fingers Xed.

Kaia is playing well this year and if she does well this fall she can enter into the top twenty list
