This could be a really good match or a really horrrifying match. Two airhead junkballers going at it. I think that Patty will take it.

airhead? please explain.

unless you being sarcastic.

Great to see two players from the same school of intelligent tennis (Eric van Harpen) meeting in the semis.

Good luck Conchita. At least you won't be so tired or feel as much pressure as Patty who really is trying to qualify for LA and do it in front of her home crowd.

Patty in 3. This time her patience will last longer than Conchi's. 6-4 1-6 6-3

Go Patty, get into the finale, take the trophy. In the name of justice. ;)

I meant that neither of these two are exactly noted for their mental stability through the long haul. It was not meant as a insult to either's intelligence, but rather both of them have been noted on occasion to drift away during a match.

Patty was mentally strong enough today ... ;)

This head to head reminds me of Conchita's head to head against Mary. Both players are so inconsistent at times that it is almost impossible to predict an outcome based on past encounters.

I agree, it might be a great match, or really bad. I hope it is good, for those who get to see it!

Good luck to both players!

I like both, and wouldn't mind either winning. I only wish it was televised, it's been awhile since I've seen either play.

I agree with the Pamster! This match-up is unpredictable.

It could be atrocious tennis or a display of brilliant shot-making. And that's just the first game.

Conchita absolutely destroyed Patty with ugly junk at Wimbledon this year.

I think Patty will take it even though her record against conchy stinks. Ill even stick my head on the block and say i think it will be fairly comfortable. Say 6-3 6-2

i go for conchi, something like 6-3 7-5 in about 2 hours

if it goes to three sets than i think patty might win, as conchi may have already expended too much emotional energy

either way, the match will last at least 2 hours ;)

Who knows about this match. Will the Schnyder who beat Hantuchova here, Serena/Capriati/Mauresmo at FCC show up? Or the other, error prone Schnyder?

Which Conchita will show?

I don't know.

I must agree that this match could really go to either player and could be a close 3 setter or over in 2 one-sided sets.....This one is way too hard to predict for me, but what the heck- I'll say Patty in 3 sets, something like 4-6 7-6 6-3. I really love both ladies BTW, so either way I'll be happy for the winner and sorry for the loser. I would love to see Patty make the Championships and that makes me want to route for her, but then again a Tier 1 final appearance for Conchita would be so great too! I hope the winner of this match wins the tournament for sure!!!!

Hoping for Patty to win of course... if she does I don't think it'll be in straight sets.

I'll root for Patty. But Conchi will win in straights.

In fact, I would see Conchi taking the title here if she did not have to contend with Davenport. It's ironic, since Conchi owned Lindsay until Linds started to a hit hard approach shot to the Martinez backhand and then put away the easy volley. But, since Linds employed this tactic, Conchi has never come close to beating Davenport.

I want Patty to win...so that probably means that Conchita will.

I hope whoever wins this one takes the title (grrr Davenport!).

this is so hard to pick. my heart says patty, but my head says martinez. i do not think the head to head is a big factor bc all the matches have been tight (except Wimbledon - where martinez always plays well for some inexplicable reason). if patty plays well i think she could win, bit if not then just forget about it.

i will be conservative and say patty in 2 sets: 6-0, 6-0.

Conchita in straight sets. Patty is tired from two three-setters in 48 hours. Conchita has played 4 sets in 72 hours and finished earlier her match yesterday.

An in-form Conchita can beat Patty any day, but don't get me wrong: I really like Patty and her game is a joy to watch. If she beat Conchita, I would root for her in the final.

Anyway, I'm sure it'll be an interesting match.
