hoping for a good run here, think she should be seeded 6th provided there is no other withdrawals or late entries. a qtr or semi would do very nicely.

well it is not that out of the question, anywhere near top 30 should be good enough, the likes of kim, vera and fran will make the normal YEC, henin out for the rest of the season, flavia will be playing fed cup final. so many of the girls who qualify wont be playing anyway.

A win in Tashkent should take her back to top 50 if not near
and she have two titles which could take into account

no the bali tournamnet is the top 6 ranked players with a international title that qualify excluding players who make the YEC and those playing fed cup final, or even those who don't wanna ply like kim clijsters last year. plus 2 wild cards.

Current rank not high enough to qualify for Bali YEC and needs to get one of the remaining 2 WCs for Bali to play.

anw Flavia is still not sure to play the fed cup...she has changed her mind pretty often lately  but the last time she said Bali gives a lot of points and if needs them (and she does ) she might talk to the federation and play Bali...

Anna blogs for WTA from Tashkent :)

Hello everyone!

It has been a while since I did the blog for the WTA website, and I'm looking forward to keeping in touch with you all from Tashkent this week :)

I took a night flight here from home and arrived early in the morning a few days ago. I was exhausted - I got to the hotel around 5am! It was the only flight I could get though. Anyway the next day I had a short practice, which was fine.

I have to say, I'm impressed with what I have seen here. I heard many stories that Tashkent was dangerous - it's not like that at all, it's really nice and very green, and the people are so nice. The tournament is really good too. The facilities are great, the courts, everything... I expected everything would be different. It's a nice surprise and I hope I can do well here!

The summer was good for me. I won a lot of matches and even won my first title in a while, in Portoroz. I feel like it's all starting to come back. I didn't have a good tournament in New York, at the US Open... I had a little bit of an injury and things just didn't go right. But we'll see how things go now. I look forward to playing well this week. I got a little cold a few days ago but I think I'm ready!

As always, I appreciate all of the support I get from you all. I look forward to any fun questions you may have for me this week - send them in!

Take care.

Anna

Hello again everyone!

I was able to win my match today in straight sets. I was practicing for two weeks in Moscow, but I still have to work on some things, especially since I have a good opponent tomorrow, Evgeniya Rodina. She's a Russian girl and I've played her before. I hope I can play better than I did today!

I'm pretty tired since my match, so I didn't go to the player party tonight. But I sort of feel like I'm there - I can see it and hear it from my balcony! I can see the girls dancing. I guess I'm almost there! I'm just getting room service and staying in. There are four Russian channels on TV here and I've been keeping an eye on what's going on in my country. America's Next Top Model is also on, and there's a Russian girl on it so I'm curious to see if she can stay and win the title...

I almost missed the bus this morning. I worked out at 8:30 and had to catch the 9 o'clock bus, but I just made it. I have to admit, nothing really exciting happened today, so I'm just telling you everything I've been doing!

Have a good night :)

Anna

What was the main thing that helped you win Portoroz? Radek, Poland
I was just trying to play my best in every match, and match by match I was getting more and more confident. I'm always motivated, but it wasn't that often I was winning. Maybe also my coach came that week and helped me a bit mentally. It was a good week. It was a nice tournament and city too!

You may have seen by now that I unfortunately had to retire in my match today. I'm really sick... Evgeniya was playing well, but I just couldn't continue. Sorry to all of you who were supporting me this week :(

I'm going to go home now and get treatment and recover from this. I've had to pull out of Tokyo - I really wanted to compete there, so that's disappointing. Hopefully I'll be able to play Beijing and the rest of the season.

I want to thank you all - the fans in Tashkent and all of you reading my blog - for all of your support this week and always. It means a lot, and hopefully I'll be back playing again soon :) You can keep up with me on my official website too, at www.annachakvetadze.us. And I'll do the WTA blog again for sure, except now this is the second time I've done the blog and both times I've gotten sick :(
