Kveta and Srebotnik also IN. :)

Kveta Peschke and Katarina Srebotnik became the second doubles team to qualify for Doha later in the day, after Gisela Dulko and Flavia Pennetta had already booked their spot in the four-team event this summer.

"Caroline and the team of Kveta and Katarina have had terrific seasons, highlighted by a series of titles," said Stacey Allaster, Chairman and CEO of the Tour. "Caroline's 2010 accomplishments have brought her to a career high ranking of No.2 and Kveta and Katarina are headed to Doha as a team for the first time in their careers. All three of these players are terrific ambassadors for the sport and I congratulate them on qualifying for the year-end WTA Championships."

Zvonareva can now get in easily with a win over Dementieva but if she loses then see if Dementieva beats or loses to Schiavone/Kanepi and Azarenka beats or loses to Woznaicki/Radwanska and needs Radwanska to lose to Wozniacki. But she should be able to beat Dementieva. I dont think Serena or Kim might get in Azarenka might get to the final. And Venus will not get in because Vika is likely to beat Coco Vandeweghe.

Even WTA may think else, Kim, Vera and Serena will be IN now.

And its unlikely Elena, Jelena and Vika will all overtake Venus.

They are all in the same half of the draw in Beijing, so two of them are losing before the final, maybe all three of them. In addition, Jelela and Vika are slated to meet in the quarterfinals. The two that I think will not overtake Venus are Vika and Jelena. In addition, Fran is about 500 points behind Venus and she is slated to meet Kuznetsova in either the 4th round or the QF.

Zvonareva: Second Qualifier For Doha
ST. PETERSBURG, FL, USA - Vera Zvonareva has become the second player to qualify for the WTA Championships - Doha 2010, set to take place for the third year at the Khalifa International Tennis Complex in Doha.

"I'm thrilled to be going back to Doha," Zvonareva said. "I've been at the year-end WTA Championships for the past couple of years. I am very happy that I have been able to compete there for three years in a row now."

"Vera has had the best season of her career, highlighted by reaching back-to-back Grand Slam finals in addition to a career-high ranking of No.4," said Stacey Allaster, Chairman and CEO of the WTA. "After last season plagued by injuries, Vera has worked incredibly hard to recover and get back to the top of the sport and it's fantastic she will finish a great year at the WTA season finale."

Zvonareva will make her fourth appearance at the prestigious event, having debuted in Los Angeles in 2004, in addition to her three consecutive trips to Doha, where she finished as a runner-up to Venus Williams in 2008.

They only count 16 best tournaments, not all tournaments played. And the 4 grand slams, Indian Wells, Miami, Madrid, and Beijing (Premier mandatory) must be counted no matter what. So that's already 8 tournaments. We just need to add the other 8 best tournaments.

Azarenka got 3590 because they haven't counted Beijing yet (counted another tournament as the 16th one), but now, the beijing result is out and it must be counted (Vika points for Beijing is less than that 16th tournament point that was originally counted the week before Beijing, that's why her points dropped).

I hope it makes sense  So hard to explain.

the 16 best tournaments system doesnt' work for the way-to-doha championchip's ranking, which is the addition of the civil year tournaments won points
you can check it as i did
azarenka points are dropped only for 52 single ranking, not for the race ranking :-)
i hope my explanation is clear ;-)

^ WTA Rulebook:

Rules 2010:
The top seven (7) players using the best of 16 ranking system, starting
with the beginning of the Tour Year, shall qualify for the Sony Ericsson
Championships. The qualification method will count the previous 52
weeks of events beginning the Monday of the week of the current Sony
Ericsson Championships and dropping off the ranking points earned in
the 2009 Sony Ericsson Championships and the 2009 Commonwealth

I did it every week and they are always correct when the new race came out on Monday.

Julian. has wrote about it for long now a danish paper write "Serena won't play in YEC"

Even we can't believe all writen in that paper! ;)
