Danish Open will be played the same week as Birmingham and no other WTA-tournaments will take place the same week. So the organizers hope to attract more top players.
But IMO it only gets harder to attract top players by moving the tournament to be played in between French Open and Wimbledon. There's only very short time to prepare for Wimbledon after French Open, so who wants to play on hardcourt instead of grass just before Wimbledon?
The only good thing is that Denmark is close to France, Holland and England where other WTA-tournamnets are going on before and after Danish Open, so players doesn't have to have long flights across the ocean and several time zones.
There's not a single grass tennis court in Denmark (almost all courts in Denmark are red clay), so it's not like they going to play on grass next year instead of indoor hardcourt. The reason they play indoors is that there's no outdoor tennis stadium in Denmark with enough capacity and facilities for a WTA-tournamnet. It's in the middle of the summer so it's not because of the weather they are playing indoors.

The organizer has leased the rights for holding the WTA-tournament for 9 years from the American managementcompany Octagon.

The organizers hopes it will be possible to attract a lot of spectators because the tennis interest in Denmark is at it's highest between French Open and Wimbledon, the two best know Grand Slams in Denmark. IIRC Danish TV has historically shown French Open and especially Wimbledon much longer than Australia Open and US Open. And French Open and Wimbledon are both played during the summer season where almost all the most popular sports in Denmark are in the off-season, like football (soccer), handball, badminton and ice-hockey. The only big and popular TV-sport in Denmark during this time of the summer is cycling, but it will be before Tour de France which is one of the most popular TV-sort events in Denmark. Tour de France first begins the weekend Wimbledon ends. Tour de France has also been said to be the main reason Wimbledon isn't played later in the summer to make the time between FO and Wimbledon longer.

That's even worse. Fall after USO please?
I feel like a chihuahua can run the WTA better than they're doing now.

:haha::haha::haha:

Barcelona was the same week...a year or two ago.
But great chance for some players that do not believe they are capable of winning some matches at Wimbledon.:wavey:
