Nastja defeated Ellen Barry from NZ and will play the top seed Irina Begu in the second round of Podgorica 25k.

She lost in the second round of Podgorica tourney.

This week she's playing in Novi Sad, 10k, where she already got to the SF and is awaiting Ana Jovanovic, the top seed.

After a R3 loss at AO to the eventual champion, Nastja played in a 25k tournament in Burnie. She did really well:

Nastja lost 64 67(8) 26 after a 3 hour battle. It's definitely disappointing that she wasted 6 match points, but she won 4 matches in a WTA tournament and scored her first top 100 win. There are surely a lot of positives to take from this. Her new ranking will be between 250 and 260, and she will be the 2nd highest ranked '94 girl after Laura Robson.

It's already a thread in GM about her being insane. :o

She's not exactly the kind of player that makes the best first impression. The match was a mixture of great play and some horrible, sloppy shots - add the attitude and there's not much positive to take from the match unless you like nutcases:shrug:

She should have sealed the match in the 2nd on one of her 500,000 MPs, but if you look solely at her game, there is a lot of promise. If she has someone that she works with that can harness all that negativity... she's got a lot of quality assets that should serve her well as she gets a little bit older.

Also, she had one MP that would have been a winner against most opponents that Pervak pulled out of nowhere to hit a crosscourt winner from basically the back wall. There were a lot of things that could have gone her way with just a pinch of luck... but ya, ultimately the loss has to go down to her mental state. Still... I'm impressed with her raw tools.

Anyone knows, why Nastja withdrew from Olomouc? I now she`s playing junior championship right now ... but ... no chance for US Open q now, I suppose.

Nastja won the European Junior Championships in Switzerland! :) It's a GB1 event so quite a big win. The only match she had any problems with was the semifinal against Schmiedlova. Glad she seems to have gotten over her horrendous meltdown against Pervak last week. :o

I wouldn't be too sure about USO Q. Last year's cut-off was 245. With this SF, Nastja moves up to 237, but there were a lot of withdrawals last year. And who says she even wants to go to New York? :p

What do you think she got the last minute WC for? Because this is the last tournament that counts towards the rankings before the cut-off.

We know how she behaves on court, nothing new. It also speaks volumes that her behaviour is encouraged by her coaches. Hopefully she realizes how ridiculous she looks and gets herself some proper help - mental and coaching.

That's the point. Cali is not as high as Bogotá but it obviously helps to play Cali the week before. Especially for a young player who has never played under these circumstances Bogotá can be hell. Seriously.
