Patty showed glimpses of good aggresive tennis, but the sad thing (for Alize anyway) is that she didn't play that well.

Anyway, two semi descent tournaments is good news. Pretty much identical to last year :o, hopefully she can go a bit further at Prague this year though.

Keep it up Patty :)

It's been said hundreds of times before, but Patty's game on clay is beautiful. Effortless. She was moving Cornet around at will. Cornet was completely useless. By the end Patty was happy to sit back and let Cornet fail at try to take it on the rise, usually drawing an error within 2-3 shots or getting her out of position in one shot.
Would be a huge shame if she doesn't make it to the final.

OT, but can't Prague get some music for the changeovers or something? Comparing it to Bastad and Stuttgart, the whole place seems dead.

Agree... At the end Patty played really good, because she felt that Alize has nothing to hurt her:help:
Alize should really do something, if she can't have good results on MM clay, then she should go back to challengers.

Cornet, please try and be more consistent and patient. Some of the BH DTL's were awesome though!

If anyone posts in here that Patty should retire I'll GET THEM. Good win, Pats.

Alize was like some hamster, running in place and getting nowhere. Her serve was failing her, and Patty was so so steady. She tried and tried, but...no. Congrats to Patty for a drama free match.

a ghost on the court today.

her match against paszek must have hurt her but patty is a class player, no shame losing to her.

Though. Cornet is FAR from what she is able to produce.Needs a big change.

She's just wasting her time now.

Congrats Patty though.

For a player some posters seem to think is disinterested and heading towards retirement, that was some pretty nice stuff out there from Patty. She looks like she is playing very relaxed tennis right now, playing with no pressure on her and simply letting her natural abilities speak for themselves. Nice performance by her.

Alicia didn't really have much in her game to trouble Patty.

very long singles match on Tuesday, then another doubles match yesterday in the heat of the day. Had to affect Alize, but I doubt it would have changed the result anyway.

I had the chance to see a little of this match and yes, it was pretty much a walk over for Patty. Cornet just wasnt at the same level.

'Disinterested'. Funny, thats how I view Patty too. Don't get me wrong. I think she's a great tennis player with a tremendous talent, but I also think that very same 'talent' is sometimes letting her down. 'Look at me I am so talented so I don't have to try very hard' .. Now, I am obviously exaggerating to prove a point here.

I rarely bet on Patty for the same reason. Her laissez faire attitude sort of rubs me the wrong way :) .. Would have been easy 'safe' money today though and GL to her in next round.

I thought today's match would be a lot closer than this, but Cornet looked like she was gassed out there. As I'm typing this, she's out there again for doubles. She needs to get serious about her singles game or she'll be perennial top 50+ player

Hopefully Patty can now double bagel Tatishvili, make it to the final along with Szavay, and get her revenge for last week's result

Alize had probably nothing left after her maraton in the first round but it's nice to see Patty wining some matches.Maybe she'll stay on tour a bit longer than expected.
