Typical WTA match :lol::lol:
First set 7-5 to Lucic, then a bagel for Pauline :drool:, and in the third set Pauline was 4-0 up, then, Mirjana level to 4-4 and Mirjana double faulted in BP :spit::spit:
Pauline wasted 2 MP serving 5-4 :unsure::tape::tape:. The DF and MP fest in tiebreak was :worship::worship:... WTA classic R1 match :tape::lol:
Congrats Mirjana :yeah:
Pauline :tape::tape::weirdo:

Great fight from Mirjana, was looking for a while there that the last 2 sets were going to be real lopsided against her. Did well to save a couple of match points and hang tough in the end of the TB :yeah: Keep going!

what a fighter!!!!! lost ten games in a row. level at 4-4, saves 15-40 and then double faults twice in a row to lose her serve. saves three match points, including 40-15. unreal :eek: i'm so proud of miki, her first top100 win against an in form player!

my nerves are completely shot...
first i thought she was going to lose it when she got down a second break in the third. then i thought she was done when she got broken at 4-4. then it looked like she was in trouble after wasted a MP on her serve in the tb. that was crazy

Hele.

I have no idea how Mirjana pulled that one out of the hat but I'm glad she did. Mirjana is going to be one happy girl tonight after fighting her way through that. One absolutely f***ing amazing victory. :bounce: :rocker: :aparty: :woohoo: :banana: :dance:

Or the other hand I wouldn't want to be hanging out with Parmentier right now. That has got to be one of the most shocking turnarounds I seen in a very long time and this would not have been a fun match to lose. I not a fan of Parmentier but you got to feel for a player after a result like this.

What a fight :hearts: She continues to surprise me with her comebacks, she's got that NEVER say die attitude which she really needs, since her game is susceptible to breaking down when she's off.

AJMO MIKI! Great win. Good luck against Sara now, gonna be even tougher. Not expecting a win, but definitely expecting a fight. :)

The grass season has done wonders for her confidence, it's really exciting to see her progress. :yeah: And I mean she's a girl who has reached stardom and then hit rock bottom. The fact that she is still resilient and working to get herself back, it's such a great story. Not really a fan, but I love a story like this. Keep going Mirjana :yeah:

I really like this girl for the amount of work she puts in and for her motivation

Mirjana's Quote after this;
"I think I am best when it is tough. I think I am very good like that, and I like to fight hard. When it is hard I like to give my best and get out of a bad situation. I forget everything that is going on, all the bad things, and just focus on my tennis."

Let her reach the top120 untill the end of the season to get her in solid position for Australia, that is a HUGE comeback story, same as Date-Krumm, with that story

Maybe an inspiration for some others to just try for a nice farewell with a small number of events being over 30

I always think of Capriati or Pierce rather than Hingis or Kournikova who both -C and P- have a huge game and could not play a full season but a number of a events, letīs say 6 or what as a farewell 2011 - itīs believed Pierce plans to play one exhibition somewhen, why not a real event?

Letīs dream of 2011 and both doing it:

Pierce - 3 clay events, 3 US hardcourts including US Open
Capriati - Miami, Paris, Wimbledon and 3 US hardcourts including US Open

Great, but Lucic is 28 and she was never out of tennis 'cause she was takin a break like this girls. And actually she's been playing a lot of smaller tournaments just to get matches after that 5 years out of pro tennis.
But I love comeback stories. I would like them all to come back: Davenpor, Capriati, Hingis, Pierce etc.
But I dont think Hingis can come back to her level again. And definetly not Kournikova, she was serving less than 70mph in wimbledon.

i miss the late 90s
you had greats like steffi, monica, arantxa, anke, irina and then a ton of young contenders. i think 95-00 was maybe the best period in the women's game
