Is that one of those Berasategui forehands?

As someone who uses an Eastern forehand grip, I do NOT understand how it is possible to hit a forehand like that? :confused::help:

Are these for real! :eek::eek::confused:

How do you honestly step on court as a professional athlete looking like that?

Well, Casanova used to blow her opponents away with her strength, she hit the ball harder than anybody else back then...

Ever watch bowling or golf?

And of course there was Fernando Valenzuela and David Wells.

Well I would hardly consider bowlers and golfers "athletes" but your point about baseball players is well taken! :)

The difference I suppose is that baseball and american football are team sports and there are some roles on those teams where having that kind of heft is advantageous. Other than being able to put your weight into your shots and ripp the ball I don't see how you can be a succesful tennis player at that weight. Sorry.

This thread actually made me laugh out loud, the forehand is more hilarious than the fact she is slightly overweight for a tennis player.

Doesn't Casanova have a medical condition that makes her gain weight? I could have swore some tennis player did, maybe I'm imagining it.

I've read that about her before so it's probably right. what's the condition? the description would indicate something like hypothyroidism?

I don't either. But I was just pointing out that not everyone considered an "athlete" looks like an "athlete". There are more examples. The guys who pilot bobsleds in the Olympics. Lugers. Some higher weight Greco Roman wrestlers. Weighlifters. But you're right--for a tennis player, who has to run a lot, it's completely perplexing how she can function.

OTOH, a lot of the players people around here call "fat" are simply not. Maybe only by comparison to someone who is stick thin like Hantuchova. Tennis these days requires power, and I don't think it's any coincidence that players like the Williamses, Davenport, Capirati, Seles, Clijsters and other big babes have had more success than the likes of Hantuchova, Dulko, Kirilenko and other "model"-like players.

We need some weight rule on the WTA tour. This girl seems to be a Sumo fighter, not a tennis player.

Geez, again people discusing about someone´s looking...

When you don´t like fat, masculine players with boring style and you want to watch just someone feminine looking, slim, talented with a good game to watch, you are all still in a wrong adress - Dolgopolov is ATP player

Maria and Henin are exceptions to the rule, but even Maria is not the skinny minny she used to be.
