Oh Sorana. Shw as working so well with portugueses Antonio Van Grichen. But he is injured after Estoril Open and now she is working with team adidas and... cannot win a match..

Have to say, I saw Sorana 1st round at Wimbledon, and I was shocked at what I saw. Easily the worst performance by a player I saw at Wimbledon this year. Her opponent Petra Kvitova obviously had a great Wimbledon and went on to the semifinals but while Petra was playing ok, she certainly hadn't rounded into the form that saw her clobber Azarenka and Wozniacki. In truth anyone would have beaten Sorana the way she was playing and looking at her results since the sad thing is this match at Wimbledon seems to be quite indicative of Sorana's current form.

From what I saw a couple of weeks ago Sorana doesn't seem to have a clue at how she is supposed to play except that she is trying to hit every ball as hard as possible. That is fine if you are a naturally powerful bighitting girl like Kvitova, Rezai or Kleybanova. In the match I saw Petra was also hitting very hard but whereas it was clear Petra was playing well within her abilities it was equally clear that Sorana wasn't. Sorana simply can't hit that hard while maintaining any kind of control on where her ball is going to land at all. A strategic rethink is desperately in order.

I agree with the latter. But Aravane is petite by tennis standards. Her legs are pretty strong, but by and large she hits hard because of her technique and the great racquet head speed she generates. Sorana is physically bigger than Rezai, so if it were just about mass and power, she should be able to hit harder. Sori needs a good coach, desperately. She has a nice serve and should learn to construct points based around that fact.

I would actually say Aravane is substantially bigger physically that Sorana. No question she gets a lot of her power from racket technique too but although Sorana is 4 inches taller I'm quite sure Rezai weighs more, and the weight isn't fat, it's muscle, although only five foot five she is a strong girl. Sorana in contrast looks downright fragile.

Cirstea and Ana...slumping friends!

Cirstea, you can't outhit people....that's not possible for you. Good footwork, good foot speed and strategy is what she needs.

First things first: Zuzana is the GOAT. :worship:

Now, Sorana needs to get a real coach and find her brain where ever she left it. Who ever told her that her game depends on being a ball basher needs to be shot. :weirdo:

Sorana has a lot of natural power herself and her timing, especially on the forehand side, is great. Though being a second rate ballbasher is certainly not her gameplan.

Her biggest problem is confidence. You can't be a successful player if you don't believe in your own ability.
