Martina Navratilova's triumph in the Ladies Invitation Doubles this afternoon with partner Jana Novotna was perhaps made all the more remarkable considering that, only two weeks ago, she was undergoing her last course of radiation therapy for breast cancer.
The American, who at Wimbledon has nine singles, seven doubles and four mixed doubles titles to her name, has spoken of the pain and weariness she has suffered as a result of the treatment. But sheer grit and determination helped secure yet another Wimbledon victory on the lawns that she has made her home for more than three decades.
The American/ Czech duo defeated Tracy Austin and Kathy Rinaldi-Stunkel 7-5, 6-0 on Court One. Elsewhere, 2001 Gentleman's Doubles champions Donald Johnson and Jared Palmer were victorious in the Gentleman's Invitation Doubles defeating Yevgeny Kafelnikov and Wayne Ferreira 6-3, 6-2.
In the Gentlemen's Senior Invitation Doubles Australian duo Pat Cash and Mark Woodforde overcame Jeremy Bates and Anders Jarryd 6-2, 7-6 (5).

Navratilova is definitely one of the greatest players in the history of tennis. She won 18 Grand Slam singles titles, 31 Grand Slam women's doubles titles (an all-time record), and 10 Grand Slam mixed doubles titles. Honestly, I could carry on, and on, and on.
Even if you don't like her style you have to admit that she has talent and the press is really unanimous about this incredible player:

And besides, what a gorgeous nun she was :) :

WELL PUT! Let's face it, Martina lives for tennis. Good for her, she is very good at what she does best. Hopefully, competing is good therapy for her and helps her recover soon.

They couldn’t even make the final, because they got beat in two sets by two players old enough to be their mothers!
