I kinda felt sorry for her after reading this article, I wish she had won the doulbles..(cant say the same about the singles)

http://sports.yahoo.com/tennis/blog/busted_racquet/post/After-losing-singles-final-Zvonareva-sobs-on-co;_ylt=AoXpMrsPFIqjZxIFa2q.np84v7YF?urn=ten,25341 0

she still should be proud of her peformance this tournament.

Trying to win a match, and consoling her partner who would help her do it.

It would suck to lose two GS finals in one day, although maybe she is upset because she feels she let Vesnina down since Vesnina has never won a doubles slam like Vera has.

Every time this girl makes a major breakthrough in her career everyone says she's conquered her emotions... Then she loses and it's "what happened?"
same thing happened at the YEC in 08, uso 09 and every damn tournament she plays. Get over it people this is how she is.

Guilty as charged. I was one those who were fooled.

That is where I feel bad for Vesnina.
This is such a unique opportunity after beating the WS, to take the title and give her a boost in her young single career.

That first set was well contested, it is not as if they were dominated.
Had she kept her composure, with her experience they could have won that set.
This is very unprofessional on Vera's part.
It is almost as if she does not want to win the doubles because she failed in the singles

She did a good job at keeping her emotions under control until the final (compared to the player she was in the past), and even then she didn't totally crumbled.
Any player would have struggled to play the doubles final after the loss in single.
That being said : she has still some work to do obviously.

Sorry but there's just no excuse after all this time that she's still having these emotional meltdowns. She's not early in her career anymore. She's seasoned and she needs to get it together. Even though it was accidental, hitting Elena with the racquet was just ridiculous.

A lot of players pull out of doubles when they make a deep singles run.
This is Vera's 1st slam final. Vera is older than Sveta, Dinara and Maria.

So she stayed in doubles tried to win both, and couldnt do it.

Shvedova/King were playing well. They beat Petrova/Stosur and Mattek/Huber

That's our Bepa. She's such a Virgo with her mood swings and perfectionisms (I can talk because I am one too :p).

I feel awful for her though, I can't imagine the ups and downs of emotions she had yesterday. Playing in a slam final, losing that but keeping her emotions in check only to lose the doubles and lose it. This is simply a girl who just needs to cry (and scream, throw things) and if cry on court she must do, then that's what's going to happen.

Take a deep breath Bepa, it'll be okay.

Well, that's the way Vera is - a sweet and intelligent girl, an extremely talented and hard-working tennis player, but a complete nut on the court. As cute and funny as her meltdowns can be, they can make her look sad and they hamper her career. Also, they make her an unreliable doubles partner, and I do feel for Vesnina.
However - so what? She is still a great player and has just made both single and doubles Wimbledon final (who says vesnina would make the final without her?). She managed to overcome serious injuries and get back to the top unlike some girls who fell into oblivion due to not being able to overcpme their own problems. She has also visibly improved her mental strength. Unlike most of her peers, she has academic (formal?) education and can excel in other fields later in her life instead of being permanently bound to tennis.
All in all, despite not being perfect, Vera is quite fantastic the way she is. :inlove:

It was an awful situation for both of them  Maybe it would've been more ideal to play the ladies doubles final on Sunday rather than Saturday but the boffins at Wimbledon probably wouldn't budge their schedule for anyone.

You can't really blame Vera for her breakdown, she was caught in a catch 22 situation - she was obviously upset about her loss just a couple of hours before and had bottled it in and when things went wrong for them after the first set she couldn't help being upset - I know I would've been. She probably felt she had to keep it together for Lena's sake and when she couldn't, she probably felt even worse  Credit to Vesnina though, I think she handled the situation pretty well. I hope she doesn't look for another partner because they were both playing some superb stuff before the final.

Vera really was pathetic in the doubles match. I really felt sorry for her partner, who Vera accidently hit when she wildly slammed her racquet. I was really happy for the winners. They were so overjoyed! One of them kept yelling to the other-WE WON WIMBLEDON!! Such an extreme contrast from the pathetic Vera and her unfortunate partner, who seems like a very nice young lady.
