Serena was just horrible in the first set. Only her serve kept her in the set and won it for her. Serena was nervous. Her forehand and return game were both off. Maria came out serving far better than I expected and on fire. She was the one with intensity and belief not Serena. Yet Serena's serve kept popping in point after point, determined to be the decider. Maria faltered at the end of the set when it was her's to take.

Then Maria's game just fell apart, her confidence was shaken and nothing was going right. Serena kept placing her seves on the mark. Maria's game just went into the toilet. Maria played as poorly in the 2nd set as Serena had played in the first. Up a break in the 2nd, Serena served her way to victory. Still her forehand and return were far below what were had seen this tournament.

This was not a match for the ages and is not worth being shown again. It was tense but both neither played well at the same time. It could have gone either way.
