congrats, kaia! well-played until that medical break at 5:0 in the first, but what the hell happened then? she became really sloppy realising zakopalova had some kind of illness. hopefully she can forget the second set, get a bit of rest and focus on the next match, because kvitova is going to be tough to beat. i sense fatigue kicking in, as this was kaia's 11 match in wimby. hang on kaia, and gl against kvitova!!!

Kookie had some issue healthwise, but Kaia stayed steady through it all, even though her serve was just okay today. Klara had some nice shots, though. Interesting turn up for the tournament.

Kaia seemed to have lost the concentration after the opponents medical at 5-0. At least she got it somewhat together being down a double break in 2nd set. I guess she wasn't too happy herself, no smile in the end.

I know only one qualifier who reached Wimby SF - John McEnroe. But Kaia isnt there yet. Didnt see Kvitova matches, but what I read about it : she was scary good and destroyed Azarenka and Woz. Kaia`s only hope is to serve LOT better than in last matches and hope that Kvitova cant play 3rd supermatch in a row.

as long as the likes of francesca, radwanska or even caro/sam I might add take up sections of the draw and the likes of justine and maria are out of the top ten, we will still ahve draws like this one with the contenders elimanting each other thus creating room for surprise quarter/semi finalists. nothing against the players i have mentioned but they sre so inconsistent

agree. i did have a glimpse of that match before kaia's started. but that was the beginning of 1st set and it was pretty even. she must have done something damn well to come up with such a scoreline against pusher.

i watched live video and from what i can tell kaia played ok until that medical break at 5:0. then i think it got to kaia's subconscious that kookie was sick and unlikely to put up much of a fight going fwd. from that break onwards kaia played really sloppy, so i agree with the criticism. i have not seen kookie play enough to judge her performance, but she must have played better in earlier rounds to get past pennetta and the others.
