Do you think Elena B. will get to LA?

She is 330 points behind of #17 (the last place that allows to get to LA given Martina doesn't play).

How realistic is her chance to get to LA? She's playing in Zurich and then Luxembourg.

IF she qaulifies in Zurich and gets Sugyama, she has a good chance to get to the semis (both Dokic and Capriati are struggling).

With the juicy Tier I points, she could easily get couple of hundreds points.

Dechy - will be scrambling for Tier IV points in Bratislava (tournament win would get her less than a quarters to Elena B.)

Sugyama could be the first round opponent for Elena. if not, she still hasn't played a match indoors this fall, so is rusty and ready to be eaten by a qaulifier

Daniilidou is done playing Zurich with 0 points

then Luxembourg... all players on acceptance list are beatable. But this will be Tier III event, so it's only 145 points for a tournament win plus some quality points. Kim and Maggie are the top 20 players only, so not too many points will be around (there are some surprises like old friend Lindsay)... So total maximum in Luxembourg is 190 points.

Thus, to go to LA, Lena has to get to the semis in Zurich (approx. 280 points) and be in the final in Luxembourg (approx. 130 points), that would give her 410 ponts and ONLY a chance to qaulify for LA.

There is also the possibility that some players might pull out of the Championships. One year I think even the 20th player in the standings got in, because of so many no-shows! That would help Elena's cause. :)
