This match was closer than the score appeared. Julia should have gotten to 5-5 in the first set - missed 6 chances to. That's been a pattern with her lately, but aside from playing the important points erratically, she certainly hit a lot of winners! Marion was like a backboard out there - just getting things back consistently. That was enough apparently!

Goerges had 6 or 7 GPs to make it 5-5 in the 1st set, and again BPs at 3-5 in the 2nd, too bad she couldn't make it closer, overall she was the more aggressive player and was hitting outstanding winners, but Marion was just too solid, congrats :)

Shitty draw for the german girls. Malek, Goerges, Groenefeld got a seeded player in first round. Petkovic faces probably Serena in second round, Barrois Henin. Well, next grand slam, more luck. I hope. :(

Can't believe Julia played that well from 4-1 down in the first set and didn't take it. So many more winners than UEs and Marion trundled along and snuck it at the end. Good for Marion that she stepped up in the second. Those Australians on commentary need to be shot though :smash:
