as defending champ Serena plays on Centre Court on Day 2 as by tradition, any way that the AEC will put Venus Williams on Centre Court over Lady JaJa and SEWTA whistle blower Laura Robson on Day 1?

I believe the defending champion on the women's side plays on Tuesday. So these matches will be on Monday.

Venus might play Makarova round 2, I'd like that on CC. Katya needs those experiences.

Jankovic, of course.

She's the empress of the WTA tour, they will put her on Centre Court on day 1, so everyone gets a glimpse of her. Maximum exposure. ;)

The more interesting question is; who will play on CC on the first Thursday, when The Queen visits SW19.

its always one,
one is always TBA (and TBA one will probably be Baltacha vs Martic or something)

they hold two womens matches back TBA, if there are early finishes on CC or #1
and if they arent early finishes, sometimes these matches get put anywhere :o (whichever court finishes their 4 matches 1st)

On Thursday when the Queen visits, it should be right that Serena be the SEWTA match on Centre. I get a bad feeling that Federer and Murray will be on with Serena on Centre Court Thursday, granted if Serena gets past the shrieking dog from hell.

Edit: Federer plays on Wednesday...WOW I'm slow. Prolly Murray as a definite...this could get interesting. Nadal or Roddick. One of the two.

I remember when there were scheduled two matches originally.
WIMBLEDON 1995 Day 2

Miss Conchita Martinez [3] vs. Miss Asa Carlsson

followed by
Michael Stich [9] vs. Jacco Eltingh

followed by
Miss Steffi Graf [1] vs. Miss Martina Hingis

NONSENSE! The only reason that the Jelena match would be on Centre Court is because she is playing Robson, who I believe is English, or at least British.

No screamers I guess? I don't think they want infamous WTA screaming cause her majesty health problems. Maybe Caro or some British girls if they get there. Murry is sure bet on ATP side.

I think I read in yesterday's Evening Standard that Laura Robson will be starting on Centre Court. This could be an incorrect assumption of the newspaper, and British newspapers certainly do make ALOT of incorrect assumptions. OTOH I would say there is a very good chance the decision has already been made and the papers have been informed that Robson v Jankovic is indeed all set to go ahead on Centre Court.

I never got the impression that Maria was very well received at the all england club with her grunting..... I dont think they'll put her in front of the queen.... What if Murray loses round 1? Will she still show up? I feel like she was gonna come one year around 2000, but then Henman lost and she backed out...

What a bunch of morons :tape: Such a pathetic schedule of play!

Dawson.
Jun 20th, 2010, 04:57 PM
There are always going to be some questionable choices seeing as though TWO televised courts (courts 3 and 4) have been taken out this year to make room for a new stadium (to be completed next year).

Court 12 (formally court 11) is still a televised court

Mightymirza
Jun 20th, 2010, 05:01 PM
They r getting a new court to put more mens matches on it  ? How will this help WTA players getting better schedule?

Dawson.
Jun 20th, 2010, 05:03 PM
^ It'll work exactly the same way as the new court 2  2 womens matches, 2 mens matches. Play starting at 12 noon.

Mightymirza
Jun 20th, 2010, 05:04 PM
I was being sarcastic.. IF 2 biggest courts clearly favour mens matches.. Women also deserve a stadium court with atleast 3 matches on it..

Mightymirza
Jun 20th, 2010, 05:05 PM
A more sensible solution will be court 1 having 3 womens and 1 mens match.. But heavy headed morons wouldnt understand it I guess..

Schedule is a sexist hot mess!

1. Why are there two men's matches out of three on both Centre Court and Court 1? I bet they don't change that for Ladies'Day even. The only silver lining is that they clearly have Peer v Ivanovic as a reserve match for one of these courts if the matches scheduled finish very quickly.

2. Compare the calibre and status of some of the men's players and the women's and where they are put.
Why the hell is Mardy Freakin Fish on court 2 whereas Justine is on court 12? He is only the Queens' finalist, he has less right to this court than Eastbourne winner Makarova!

I feel bad for Justine, honestly...she's gonna get distracted. This would be the first time in a LONG time she hasn't been on courts 3 (formerly 2) through Centre
