Numbers don't lie.

No matter what you may think, Sam's had a phenomenal season so far.

Only 2 bad tournaments: Sydney and Dubai. Both R1 losses.

Since Dubai, she has made consecutive QFs in 6 tournaments from Indian Wells to Eastbourne. In short, she's gone deep in tournaments on almost ALL surfaces - hard court, clay and grass.

She's not just a CLAY-goat. ;)

I think she does have a case to be the best player of the year so far. It's either her, Venus or Jankovic anyway.

And the admins only got them working again, before Safina became #1, and they obliterated again.

I can't even imagine the furore if there was another slam #1.

She clearly deserves it, she has been pretty fantastic this year so far, but i think venus or serena will take over again after wimbledon

sammy would be a better no 1 than safina was

anway, she won't make it. Serena and Venus always have good results in the last 2 slams

What?

I'm sure I don't need to mention Venus' Wimbledon record and she has lost to the eventual champion at the US Open practically every single year since the death of christ.

The top 6 are in a tight race. With hard courts coming up I can see them all keeping their spots except Schiavone. I can see Stosur getting number one becuase of consistency and the number of tournaments she plays. Hope Serena can keep it though.

By any objective measure, Venus was at best the 5th best performer in Slams last year: behind Serena, Safina, Dementieva, Kuznetsova and even Wozniacki

I know that

I'm talking about US Open obviously. I know she always lost to the eventual champion there but I was quoting him saying "Venus always having good results in the last 2 slams". Her US Open results weren't that good in the last few years regardless to who she lost to there.

What? SF, QF were good, R4 was decent considering she had the knee injury and still gave Kim her toughest match scorewise of the event. You can't overlook who she lost to:rolleyes: She has only ever lost to 5 players at the USO, to add to the fact she a vast majority of the time loses to the eventual champion.

My bad then. Btw, I have nothing against her. I much prefer her over Serena. :wavey:
