Misa is the clear favourite having won two titles and reached one final on grass, she's as focused as ever and when she has several aces, she's probably the best player in ATC, Kirilenko has the distinction of being the only player to defeat Misa on grass, she had a great week in Eastbourne but whether she can produce two big weeks back-to-back remains to be seen, finally Molik has been a little quiet this season and has just lost her #1 rank but you can never count her out and she's overdue a Slam win so this could be her tournament.

When Sharapova was #1 before she struggled to deal with the pressure, but as the only player to win a major with 0 aces, she has to be a big threat to win here with 2, Spears and Pennetta have had consistent results on the grass and are both Slam winners, if a few of the favourites drop out, one of them will likely seize the opportunity and take the title.

Tanasugarn to Wimbledon: This is where I thrive..I must do well

http://www.wtnphotos.com/data/522/8544968tanasugarn.jpg

WIMBLEDON,ENGLAND-AP-When we last talked to Tamarine Tanasugarn we were in Sydney,Australia for the Medibank International. She had a 81-80 record going into the tournament. People questioned how she won 2 grand slams at the peak of ATC. "I mean, I feel like I am more committed now, then I was back in the day." She was ready to dominate the tour again, and try and claim her 2nd Australian Open title. Things went in an opposite direction. "I think I put a little pressure on myself and didn't play my game." Since then she has only won 2 matches...and both on clay. "I got a walkover into the QF at Amelia Island and I beat Britney Spears in Strasbourg. I led Maria Sharapova 5-0 in the third at Rome, so I knew I kinda felt I was there." With a disappointing loss to Alicia Molik, she headed to the grass season. She recently faced Molik again. "That girl is literally owning me, I think we have played 20 times and I cannot remember the last time I won a match against her."

She won the very first Wimbledon title. "That moment 4 seasons ago is one I cherish the most. I played amazing tennis that week." Since her Australian Open win in Season 2, we have seen her dwindle as Kim Clijsters, Alicia Molik, and Maria Sharapova have burst onto the top of women's tennis. "I remember when it was myself, Michaella Kraijcek and Nathalie Dechy. That is when there was comradary" Here, she is now ranked 14th, barely getting into main draws of events. "It sounds like I am putting pressure on myself. I guess I am, but I am not phased by it. I think desperate times call for desperate measures." In the first round she takes on top seed Maria Sharapova. The two have met once on Grass. "It was in Season 3, I believe it was Birmingham QF, Maria won 6-4,7-5. Tough match, she deserved it." "I just have to prepare my best, this tournament is one..if not the toughest tournament to win nowadays with tons of 3 and 4 acers." "It feels like an equal playing field, and you can see who truly is the best."

Tamarine has never thought of retirement. "I love ATC. Its one of the few games I play now, I was playing like 10, but this is number 1 in my book. Excellent running. I hope to see more in the future." The Daviator has joked that Tamarine and Maria Kirilenko will be at ATC fighting in Season 19 a couple seasons ago. "When I play qualifying, that's when I'll have to dig deep.

If she wins against Sharapova, she will play 5th seed Anastasia Myskina or Marion Bartoli. Tanasugarn has lost to Myskina on grass in straights this season all ready. "I am ready for the fight. I just want to win one match at a time." Her 2-11 record shows disappointment, but she has her glory days to push her through here. "Bring it."

Tanasugarn down and out

http://www.wtnphotos.com/data/522/XWIM134070110_1024x768.jpg

WIMBLEDON,ENGLAND-AP- Former number one Tamarine Tanasugarn fell in the first round of Wimbledon for the second conesecutive year. The optomistic Thai fell 7-6(3),4-6,7-5 to top-seeded Maria Sharapova of Russia. The topsy-turvy match led to a 5-1 lead in the fist and 5-2 lead in the third, and Tammy could not pull it out. In her press conference today, Tanasugarn collapsed mentally.

Q: Tough luck out there today.
TANASUGARN: You don't say eh?

Q: It was brutal to see.
TANASUGARN: Yeah. I just let it happen all day every day and I don't give a f***.

Q: She played the right game at the right time. Do you think you could have done anything else?
TANASUGARN: Yeah, just one thing.

Q: What is that?
TANASUGARN: Win

Q: You sound a little stubborn right now.
TANASUGARN: Have you ever choked on Centre Court?

Q: No.
TANASUGARN: Then shut the hell up.

MODERATOR: Please no attacking Questions
TANASUGARN: Let them ask whatever the **** they want. Its their jobs.

Q: Where do you go from here?
TANASUGARN: Just watch matches and see where I really am physically and mentally against the other girls. Probably get drunk with Michaella [Krajicek] and Maria [Kirilenko] at a Britney Spears concert.

Q: Do you plan to quit anytime soon?
TANASUGARN: No. I plan to play my game this summer and maybe win a match Indoors, it might happen you never. By the way, try asking the question more nicely, you might get a girl, or by the way you dress, a guy. I hear Sue Sylvester is looking for someone.

Kirilenko: Molik is a "Fucking Pusher"

http://start10g.ovh.net/~jibisblo/albums/userpics/10001/normal_Kirilenko-Wimbledon-2506094.jpg

WIMBLEDON-- 7th Seeded Maria Kirilenko kept her dreams for her maiden grand slam title alive by defeating arch-rival Flavia Pennetta in a thriller, 6-7(7) 7-6(6) 7-6(6) in the Quarterfinals of Wimbledon late Thursday evening.

"This was huge for me -- it's no secret I can't stand Flavia, and to beat her two weeks in a row in tight matches is really satisfying. For someone who talks so much trash against me, she certainly can't back it up on the court. Has she ever even beaten me?" remarked Kirilenko.

Next up for the Glamourous People's Champ is Alicia Molik, who Kirilenko has split matches with this season.

"She's nothing but a fucking pusher", said Kirilenko. "She has absolutely no weapons. She's content to stand 5 feet behind the baseline and just retrieve and wait for the errors like a freaking dog. I guess it's the Australian way and that's why Australia is a third world country. I prefer to live and die by the Sasha Fierce groundies that come off my racquet in true Russian fashion."

Wimbledon officials noted that Kirilenko was fined $1,000 for her offensive language during the press conference and sent over a pack of dog treats to Molik's locker shortly thereafter.

Congrats on a successful title defence Misa :) The difference was simple, Misa changed from last week's points and knew what to do and MK stayed the same, but this was still a great week for MK, I class this Slam as a big success for her  But well done again to Misa on Slam #2 :yeah:

Goodbye Harkleroad, Hello Oudin
http://www.accesshollywood.com/content/images/102/originals/102091_melanie-oudin-i-think-its-pretty-cool-being-considered-a-celebrity-september-9-2009.jpg
There is a new Georgia Peach on the ATC Tour and her name is Melanie Oudin, a fresh-faced 18 year-old. Oudin is the new prodigy from tennisbuddy12, who led Ashley Harkleroad to the U.S. Open and Fed Cup titles and the finals at Auckland, Qubec City and the Year End Championships, all in Season 1. After not feeling committed and with some injury issues, she was retired near the end of Season 2. Now married and with a one-year-old son, Harkleroad is happy where she is in life and hasn't ruled out a comeback. "I enjoyed ATC so much, and I have so many fond memories. I had amazing memories that I will cherish forever. Right now, I am helping tennisbuddy12 by mentoring and coaching Melanie, but right now, I have no desire to come back. Maybe, but maybe not," Harkleroad told reporters.
http://i2.sinaimg.cn/ty/news/en/2009-10-02/U2407P675T32D67F612DT20091002095905.jpg
Melanie, who had a magnificent career on the USTA and ITF circuit, winning numerous titles and reaching number 2 in the world, is ready for the competition of ATC. "I am so excited to start playing professionally. My shoes are inscribed with the word "Believe." as a reminder to me and everyone that if you believe in yourself, you can achieve your goals and dreams. Mine is to make an impact and win a Grand Slam and become number 1. I feel honored to represent my country and another dream of mine is to win an Olympic medal, preferably gold. I saw Ashley win both the U.S. Open and Fed Cup on TV and that's what changed my level. After watching her win, I put more work in and I am ready to test my level against these tough females!

Krajicek Defends Wimbledon Title

http://www.wtnphotos.com/data/3171/fullj_getty-74808457mt129_the_champions_3_23_48_pm.jpg

Defending champ Michaella Krajicek wins Wimbledon for the second consecutive year in front of a sold-out crowd, featuring two of the hottest player on tour in the final. The #3 ranked Dutchwoman won her 13th career title and her second grand slam title, defeating tough rival Maria Kirilenko of Russia 7-6(6), 7-5, in a re-match of last week's Eastbourne final.

M: Congrats Michaella for defending your Wimbledon title.
K: Thank you very much.

M: What do you feel winning Wimbledon again?
K: I feel relieved firstly to be honest, and then thrilled of course. Wimbledon is no doubt the most prestigious tournament ever. Most of them wants to do well here as the players are more and more better on grass courts and at the end, holding the Rosewater Dish. Anyway, it holds a special place in my heart and I feel unusually close and comfortable with the atmosphere around here.

http://www.wtnphotos.com/data/3171/XWIM155062917_1024x768.jpg

M: So I guess your record of 5 straight Wimbledon semifinals or even your third Wimbledon final in the past 4 seasons helps to confirm this statement?
K: Oh, yeah (laughs). That's one of the reasons. I'm just glad that I am able to do so well on my best surface, you know. Some players are very good grass court players too but then they just couldn't do very well which I have no idea why. Anyway, when I step onto the court, especially here (Center Court), I feel like I am in my own backyard, trying to enjoy my tennis practices on the lawn. I have this chilling and peaceful feel no matter how tough my opponent will be.

M: What do you think about your match today? Do you feel satisfied getting your revenge from your loss last week?
K: Absolutely pleased I am now. Maria is definitely the second favourite after me on grass this week. She has played almost better quality tennis in recent seasons and hence her improvement on this surface this year, winning Eastbourne. However, I told her something during the quick chat after the handshake last week which I won't reveal here (remember MK?:devil:http://www.tennisforum.com/showpost.php?p=17839803&postcount=59) I just know I will come out fighting and giving my all no matter who my opponent is. No doubt Maria is also playing the match of her life, but of course I made some slight tactical change which wasn't that effective against her last week and I proved this time I'm still better than her. I'm just happy that the effort paid off.

M: Talking about your journey here, you were almost being eliminated in the first round here but then it was almost easy for you since then, winning your rivals convincingly. Any difference playing with any one of them?
K: Oh totally. Ana was playing so well, very gutsy tennis against me. I wasnít playing my best that day for sure. Like everyone, it's always tough to play your first match in any event. Plus I donít like playing against players who I seldom play. I was still getting adjusted with the surroundings but thank god I prevailed. Then Kim and Masha (Sharapova) who I seldom have problem against [combined head-to-head of 19-4]. Grass is obviously not Kim's best surface, so does Maria. I am quite confident against Kim to be honest, but not so against Maria since she has beaten me on this place 2 seasons ago on the same stage (semifinals). Plus she has a decent record on grass, not less she has won Roland Garros even she's well known to be a cow on ice on clay, so that's why I would feel a little insecure against her. I'm glad to cruise through to the final with a couple of these easy wins, saving my energy and getting me freshened up for the final. Finally, Maria (Kirilenko) is always a tricky opponent. She's pretty much consistent nowadays and as you all know, she's the only one beating me on grass this season and therefore, I must say she has a reason to be proud despite without the title.

http://www.wtnphotos.com/data/3171/df74b9c1-0b72-41b9-bcd3-291a35ae1692.jpg

M: What do you expect after this almost perfect grass court season?
K: Well, I have no idea. This is definitely my best grass court season ever in 5 seasons now. I always look forward to this surface since it's obviously my best and most favourite surface. I usually have an appalling first half of the season on plexicushion and on clay, like this season, I only managed a win out of 8 events but that didn't stop me from playing well on grass. To be honest, I have been secretly training hard on grass, hence the poor results earlier. Now onto hardcourts and then indoors. I didn't have much to defend on hardcourts and it's a neutral surface for me. I can play well if I'm on a good day. Then I'm more concerned on indoors surface since I have like 3 titles and a semifinal on YEC to defend. So I of course feel a little pressured but I will surely try my best to make it happen again if possible.

M: You're now third in both the rankings and the singles race. Any hope for YEC?
K: It's too early to say but I think I'm kind of safe enough to qualify especially after doing so well on grass. I just need to solidify my position in the race, doing good in several events and qualify for the fifth straight time and hopefully able to reclaim the title. That's what I can hope for apparently.(laughs) But as for now I will just take some time off to recharge myself for the remaining of the season.

http://www.wtnphotos.com/data/3171/XWIM166062810_1024x768.jpg

M: Thank you Michaella for the interview. We wish you the best for the rest of the season.
K: Thank you and your welcome.
