Between 2nd set of R4 match vs Kuznetsova at French Open 2005 and todays R3 RG/2010 2nd set match vs Sharapova, Belgian Justine Henin has 40-sets wining strike in Paris. That is more consecutive sets wins at Roland Garros than anybody (man or woman) have in history!

Well done Justine...:worship: well done Maria!

Helen Moody had 40, Justine would have beat that record today had she won in straight sets.

Hopefully Maria breaks her RG win streak also
Just like she stopped her win streak at AO 08

If you look at that cow on ice thread, I said watching Maria get to match point on Dinara in 2008, that Maria can win on this surface. Not when Henin is on her best, but no one beats that on clay.

She is so strong I still give the edge to Henin since it's clay but seriously Henin won't be a threat anymore on HC or grass I mean it will be 60% for Maria, no doubt about that.

Think it was bound to happen sooner or later at this RG. She is definatly no where near her 2007 scary form

I'm really happy for Maria and her fans that she was able to halt this record. Pretty awesome. I was really impressed with Maria's play today. You just know if she's playing well on clay, she's going to tear it up at Wimbledon!

I would like to know what Carlos has to say about that since he always takes Pova for granted when playing his disciple.

it's kinda weird cause justine respects maria a lot and always says she has to be playing really well to beat her..too bad her coach underestimates her

MARIAAAAAAA WOO. I actually dreamed that Sharapova took Henin to third set, only to get the match suspended.

HOpefully Sharapova takesit all.

Maria's all pumped up. She will obviously finish the work. Henin gets so tense when she's pressured on these days.

i kept waiting for maria to make her move. justine is still rusty and not big match tough. i don't understand why michael joyce would advocate ending the math. masha had all the momentum on her side. we all know how important momentum is in tennis. unfortunately i think tomorrow might be a replay of the first set.

tonybotz
May 30th, 2010, 05:14 AM
i think the slow court helped masha because it forced her to hit with more topspin. hen she goes for the flat winner, she misses more now.
