View Full Version : 3. Rd: Jelena Jankovic def. Alona Bondarenko 6:4 7:6 (3) - 7 breaks are not enough

May 29th, 2010, 08:22 PM
Alona breaked Jelena seven times in two sets. But thats not enough to win this match, because she lost her service eight times. :tape:

I'm a Lena D fan but even I can say that the serving was ridiculous in that match:rolleyes:
Jelena won't find Daniela's serve so easy to break:devil:

May 29th, 2010, 08:25 PM
well done JJ :cool::yeah:

Anyway, congrats JJ :yeah:, now Dani kick her ass :rolls:

May 29th, 2010, 08:26 PM
Alona had so many chances and didn't take them. :smash:

May 29th, 2010, 08:27 PM
Jankovic is lucky it's not a set all. She was just pushed, waiting for Alona B. to hand her the match and unfortunately Alona handed he the last 3 points.

This was about as well as I've ever seen Alona B. play. She was actually living woth Jankovic in the intensely paced baseline rallies and out manoeuvred her surprisingly well at times. She threw in a couple of bad errors on the mst crucial points and her lack of any real mid-court game eventually did her in.

May 29th, 2010, 08:27 PM
Alona:sad:Came back so many times, but she just couldn't hold serve:(Still, she played really well!

May 29th, 2010, 08:27 PM
is Alona the first player lost to JJ up to ten times???

come on JJ, make a sweet revenge next round

May 29th, 2010, 08:29 PM
The whole match were just breaks. Ok, Jelena, hold her service at 5:4 but thats that.
Never seen that so often, that somebody wins a match without winning her own service.
Good luck for the next rounds. :help:

She played really well at times, but she almost couldn't hold her serve :o

Anyway, good win.. Ajde!!!

JaJa,you were very very bad bad girl !!! What happened with your hair today ?! I am very dissapointed, this is the first time you hair wasnt perfect and straight!
The match was boring,we all knew JJ will win, she's just too good for Alona B.

May 29th, 2010, 08:35 PM
 Messy match. So glad JJ could win though.

Ummm.... Daniela next. I hope JJ wont make a fool out of herself. :sobbing:

May 29th, 2010, 08:39 PM
JJ :tape: :help: Please find a first serve and cut down on the errors or you will not be let off the hook next time. You are lucky this wasn't a three setter for tomorrow. However well done, good luck next round!

Alona :awww: Well you moved and retireved excellently, frustrating JJ, but you could not hold serve :o Paticularly in the crunch times unfortunately.
At least you are improving your slam results this year though

May 29th, 2010, 08:40 PM
Didn't see the match. It seems that it was tough. Anyway, a win is a win. Congrats, Jelena :inlove:

Horrible nerve-wracking match to watch as a Jelena fan.

Jelena made so many UEs and that stopped her getting any momentum whenever she managed to inch ahead. Alona played very well when Jelena was serving. Both players couldn't hold their serves for their life and at 3-3 in the TB - true to form - each of those six points was against serve.

Jelena's had a great chance earlier was when she was 5-3 up in the 2nd set and only needed to break Alona's serve (which she was doing up till then) to win the match. Alona started with a DF and barely got a 1st serve in that game but Jelena played horribly and managed to gift every point away with tame UEs. Not surprisingly I think she then lost her serve to love.

In the TB - Jelena finally got over the winning line when the last 3 points were Alona tamely making 3 UEs without any rallies including a DF. They were the worst 3 points in succession that Alona played the whole match.

May 29th, 2010, 11:29 PM
well done Jeca. Keep winning!

May 29th, 2010, 11:30 PM
No hopes against Dani :hearts:

May 29th, 2010, 11:31 PM
hot mess Jelena :cheer:

It surely was :sobbing:

That was scandalously bad play from JJ :help: No rhythm what-so-ever, spraying dumb UEs all over the place, can't hold serve to save her life, horrendous. How she won this in straight sets IDK

Keep winning ugly Janka :cheer: :weirdo:

May 30th, 2010, 12:25 AM
Just watched the last game and TB, Alona seemed like the better player but her UEs in the TB were just annoying :o
Hopefully Daniela can beat Jankovic now, if JJ plays like today, she surely has chances!

May 30th, 2010, 12:28 AM
Alona  if only she had hold once her service on 2nd set we'd have a 3rd this sunday like Henin-Sharapova

May 30th, 2010, 12:53 AM
i don't know about the rest of you, but i thoroughly enjoyed this match. not many winners, but PLENTY of excellent defense from both girls.
nice win JJ,
Alona, better luck next time!!

I thought Groth vs. Rodionova was a superior match. The way Alona hit four straight backhand pushs into the net to end the tiebreak was seriously embarrassing. Jankovic has a great draw on paper, but I would be absolutely shocked, if she made it through Hantuchova and the Shvedova/Groth winner. From what I have seen, Id pick Groth to beat her, especially if the courts remains slow. Jankovic is like a fish out of water on slow claycourts. She loses her serve as often as she did today, she cant get through these girls, who serve fairly well. Let alone whoever waits in the semifinal. Its really sad to see because this is a golden opportunity.

May 30th, 2010, 01:47 AM
JJ :cheer:

May 30th, 2010, 01:56 AM
Let's just hope this one was one of those frustrating-hard-fought matches that praise her and launch her play miles better tennis. I watched a little bit and it was awful.

Let's hope she learned from previous two defeats from Hantuchova. It's time for at least QF, JJ! Not a single one on grand slams since USO 2008. :sobbing:

Just Do It
