Dementieva?

Her latest stint in the top 10 only started in April 2008.

Jankovic also hasn't reached even a major QF in about a year and a half. Fact.

doesn't seem possible- surely the likes of lindsay/venus/elena should be up there

:) Very nice! And the only losing head to head she has with any top ten player is Kim.... and those loses are all from 2+ years back so it may change, maybe not but still she has impressive stats... Now only if she won a slam or two she would be one of the elite.... GO JJ!!!!

But she is consistent at the other tournaments. Fact. ;)

Lena D fell to #11 at the end of 07 I believe, she was the first alternate for SEC then

Amazing fact considering how irrelevent she was in 2009. And now she's #4 after playing well for about 2 months  Wow, I don't really pay much attention to her results seeing as though she bores the life out of me but maybe I should start.

I think she and justine have the least points to defend from Wimbledon on so their rivalry should heat up real soon!!!

hahaha bitch... yeah there head to head is completely one sided but they have great matches 95% of them going 3 sets.... it's a rivalry.. JJ is gonna get her when it counts most one of these days.. kinda like the Steffi - Sanchez Vicario head to head would be the bets comparison

Your right!!! Kuznetsova has been in the top 10 since April 3 2006..... but since she just lost today to Kirilenko when the new rankings come out she will be #18 I believe so Jankovic will be the longest continuous top 10er

A slumping JJ has been more consistent than all the others ?

Seriously, she did a good job to hang in there despite her lost of form and all the problems she had in 2009.

After the Oz-2007.

After the Oz-2007.

If I check that correctly, Serena is the second longest. 07 FO till now.

She briefly dropped out in early 2008. Venus is now the second-longest-runner (from Sept 07).

Only the Top 8 enters th SEC and #9 and #10 ranked are 1st and 2nd alternates on standby.
Dementieva was 2nd alternate for 2007 SEC, which means she must have been ranked #10 at the time: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2007_WTA_Tour_Championships#Singles_2
Bartoli was 1st alternate and replaced the retired Serena Williams during the SEC.

Your right she was the 2nd alternate but still ranked #11. Venus pulled out of the 2007 SEC w/ and illness and she was ranked #8 going in. That's why Hantuchova was able to compete making #10 ranked Bartoli the first alternate and #11 ranked Dementieva the 2nd alternate. She finished the year at #11.

If she hadn't she would have had 7 consecutive years in the top ten and that would have been something but didn't turn out that way sorry. :)

Wrong, wrong, if you read, you will see that Venus (7) withdrew, moving Masha into the top 8 (who was number 9 at the time) so that Marion (10) and Elena (11) would be the two alternates.:wavey:

Congratulations Jelena, you suck and somehow still stay and the top 5 :hearts:

no no no :p, when daniela won linz sharapova became the alternate that got in, daniela received the 8th spot when they were tied in points but daniela had the tiebreaker.

This is right. Sharapova was ranked #9 on the Race and got in when Venus withdrew. Bartoli (#10) got in as 1st alternate when Serena withdrew mid-tournament. Dementieva (#11) was second alternate.

It really is impressive that she seemed to be so "out of it" last season and now she is truly back in the mix of things...and top five.
