I'm curious to see what she will do in 4R. She'll for sure be the underdog, even against slumping Wozniak.

wow, good result for south african tennis too

never thought sheepers could reach the 4th round of a slam, then again i never thought the likes of plishke, serra-zanetti, bremond or mandula would ever reach grandslam quarter-finals so i shouldn't be too surprised!

Probably Suárez Navarro (QF, actually), and I remember both Marrero (QF also) and Leon Garcia did it as well :D

This is definitely one of the more shocking results at a tournament that we've had in a while. A nine year professional in her mid 20s, basically the epitome of an ITF journeywoman, comes out of nowhere to reach the 2nd week of a Grand Slam.

She doesn't have anything flashy in her game, but she plays smart and it gets the job done. Well done to her :) Nice to see a hard worker get her rewards.

Roland Garros is famous for having odd 4th round and quarterfinalists

1999 Q Shwartz and Plischke were in the quarters
2000 Q Marrero made quarters
2001 Q Mandula and Krasnoroutskaya were in quarters
2002 Fernandez made semis
2003 Nadia beat Monica and Jennifer which were huge upsets at the time
2004 Suarez was in semis, tournament as a whole had upset after upset
2005 Pierce made final, Likhovtseva semis, Karatancheva quarters, Gagliardi made it far too
2006 Vaisisova upset Amelie and Venus, Groenefeld was in quarters
2007 went according to plan.....Ivanovic final???
2008 Cetkovska made 4th round, Kanepi and Q Navarro made quarters, Kvitova 4th round
2009 Cibulkova and Stosur in semis, Cirstea in quarters,
2010 Q Scheepers still in

since 1999 4 qualifiers in quarters...so Scheepers and Pivovarova still have a shot

For the past two years, Chani's game has improved a lot, ever since she started working at Huber Tennis Ranch with Liezel Huber, her husband Tony who is currently Chani's coach, Mariaan De Swardt and Roger Anderson (Liezel's coach). She played far less ITFs since Stuttgart last year, and you can see it in her game. She is also a player that works with self confidence, and her wins in qualies and the fact she is surrounded with a great team allowed her reaching R4.
Chani is a very nice girl, very down to Earth, and I'm very happy for her.
